Von Miller, defense carry Broncos to Super Bowl 50 victory

SANTA CLARA, Calif — Von Miller reaches into his contact lens case. He positions his index finger slowly, and inserts the lens into his eye. It marks the last thing the Broncos linebacker does before running out of the locker room.

The irony is unmistakable. A man worried about his vision never willl go unseen or be forgotten in Colorado again. Miller fueled a defense that attacked Carolina quarterback Cam Newton all game, pursuing with vengeance from weeks of slights both real and imagined.

For all the importance of Peyton Manning's likely final game, it was Miller and the Orange Rush that thrust the Broncos to a championship, smothering Carolina 24-10 in Super Bowl 50 Sunday.

2. Congratulations to Broncos fans.

It was a great game, (especially if you like watching great defenses), played by two great teams. This Seahawks fan, with that vision of Cam Newton desecrating a 12th Man banner still burning holes in my brain, was particularly pleased with the talented efforts of Von Miller today. I strongly suspect, should Mr Von Miller ever find himself in a Seattle tavern this offseason, he might find it every bit as difficult buying his own drinks as he would in a Denver tavern.
