Negotiations with the last four occupiers of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in southeast Oregon continued Friday as a militia's weekend plan to escort them out was canceled.

A Facebook post of BJ Soper, a founding member of the Pacific Patriots Network, said the group was going to escort the holdouts from the refuge. But Soper learned that the occupiers said they were resigned to die and that attempts to remove them would be met by force.

Soper said he didn't want to put the volunteers in harm's way.

"This was a call to action not a call to arms," Soper wrote Thursday.

The narrative being built is that Finicum died with his arms raised, shot in the back, murdered, in an ambush, unarmed after leaving his guns with friends at Malheur, drawing fire away from the other occupants of the vehicle.

It's all a load of nonsense and stinking excrement, of course. The clearer heads on the right wing boards repeatedly make the points that Finicum drove away from a highway stop by LE, crashed while trying to run a roadblock, did not stay in the vehicle, reached for where he has been keeping a handgun, twice. With the background that he had been recorded on media as stating he would not be taken alive. And they resolve the conflicts between eyewitness accounts and the video and the FBI statement.

But the hotheads hear only what they want to hear and ignore or disbelieve any evidence that runs counter. The main thrust of their narrative is that Finicum was peacefully, non-violently standing up for Constitutional rights of 'people' against a tyranical federal regime. They really believe he and the Bundy gang was peaceful and non-violent.

So you can be sure that no matter how clinically and precisely and transparently any law enforcement action is done against the four holdouts, there will be more sainted crap created in perpetuity if any of them die, regardless of how many warnings and chances they have and will be given.

LE is going to plan and move very deliberately and carefully at a time of their own choosing.
