NEW YORK (Reuters) - Former drug executive Martin Shkreli, facing an indictment for engaging in securities fraud, replaced his legal team on Tuesday with a New York lawyer whose past clients have included former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn and rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs.

Shkreli, 32, had gained notoriety before his indictment when Turing Pharmaceuticals, which he headed at the time, raised the price of a drug used to treat a dangerous parasitic infection to $750 from $13.50.

. . .

Shkreli, during an interview on Fox Business Network on Tuesday, said he was "excited" about hiring Brafman, whose clients have also included rock star Michael Jackson, football player Plaxico Burress and rapper Jay-Z.

"You know, his track record is impeccable, and I think that to the extent that he's representing me going forward, I think we're going to put our best foot forward," Shkreli said.

living days in prison. There's no possible justification for raising the price of a drug so exorbitantly high, except for greed.

I hope his legal fate is determined through an honest (on both sides) proceeding through the criminal justice system. Same as I hope for all those accused of crimes in this country.

You're just a better person than I. I admit it; there are some folks that just turn me the other way and he's one of 'em.

This guy deserves everything he's got coming to him.

Legally or karmic realignment, it's bound to happen.

BROOKLYN (The Borowitz Report)—A criminal lawyer representing Turing Pharmaceuticals chief Martin Shkreli has informed his client that he is raising his hourly legal fees by five thousand per cent, the lawyer has confirmed.

Minutes after Shkreli’s arrest on charges of securities fraud, the attorney, Harland Dorrinson, announced that he was hiking his fees from twelve hundred dollars an hour to sixty thousand dollars.

Shkreli, who reportedly received the news about the price hike while he was being fingerprinted, cried foul and accused his attorney of “outrageous and inhumane price gouging.”

“This is the behavior of a sociopath,” Shkreli was heard screaming.

For his part, Shkreli’s lawyer was unmoved by his client’s complaint. “Compared to what he pays for an hour of Wu-Tang Clan, sixty thou is a bargain,” he said.

Of course he'd hire a celebrity attorney -- look up "legend in his own mind" and you'll find a pic of Shkreli.

But can he afford Brafman? Probably, since he must have gotten a good price from TMZ for his video of him threatening a rapper surrounded by masked goons:
