FBI joins Flint, Michigan water investigation
Source: Reuters
The FBI is joining a U.S. investigation into Flint, Michigan's water contamination crisis, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Detroit said on Tuesday.
Gina Balaya, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Detroit, said in an email that federal prosecutors in Michigan are "working with a multi-agency investigation team on the Flint water contamination matter, including the FBI, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the EPA's Office of Inspector General ... and the EPA's Criminal Investigation Division."
The city was under the control of a state-appointed emergency manager when it switched its source of tap water from Detroit's system to the Flint River in April 2014.
The more corrosive water from the river leached more lead from the city pipes than Detroit water did.
Last week, Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette named a special prosecutor and investigator to look into possible crimes stemming from the matter.

But it turns out, DWSD offered the state-controlled city a deal that would have saved Flint more money by staying with Detroit.

Very important. I've seen at least one poster here on DU accusing the City of Detroit of cutting off the water early, when our city was under 'emergency management'.

The world's largest supply of fresh water....and the City of Detroit, and Flint, sitting right in the middle of it.
This has been brewing for a long time. Detroit's hostile white suburbs have wanted the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department for years. Snyder gave them their opening.

(1,807 posts)must mean they have some correspondence which was sent through the mails... which means they have some damning paperwork or contract or document. Snyder may have been bright enough to refrain from sending email about Flint, but he may certainly have been using the post.
