(14,738 posts)Growing up I always thought that he was one of the BBC's elder statesmen. Not just with Children In Need or his prime time chat show, but also his perennially popular Radio 2 breakfast show.
Terry Wogan will be sorely missed.

I expect a big tribute to him at the UK competition this month.

(504 posts)A true giant of British broadcasting. One of the few to genuinely conquer both the mediums of television and radio and be top of the tree at both.
Nobody seemed to have a bad word to say about Wogan and the British news coverage today is flooded with tributes from his peers. A kind man and a true professional.
And as already noted, Eurovision with him commentating was extraordinary. It seemed like Wogan and his audience were the only ones in on the joke. It made for magical TV.
Farewell Sir Tel!
