Washington probes Moscow’s influence on European Parties

United States intelligence agencies have been given the mandate to investigate the funding channels between the Kremlin and anti-systemic parties in Europe. An intelligence authorization act passed by the U.S. Congress and the Senate instructs the National Director, James Clapper, to assess Russian clandestine funding operations over the last decade.

The mandate is already causing alarm. BBC reported on January 13th that Clapper’s phone was found tapped. Clapper is to assess whether party and Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) funding is linked to Russian security services (FSB) and whether there is concerted action to undermine Euro-Atlantic political cohesion. He will be reviewing concerted action to derail specific projects, including energy infrastructure and missile defense. In addition, there is to be close oversight over concerted action to have economic sanctions following the annexation of Crimea lifted.

There are many voices in Europe that have been calling for a similar probe. The Political Capital Institute lists 15 European far-right parties that have openly expressed their sympathy towards Russia, joined, on occasion, by the radical left. In total, that is 20% of the European Parliament political parties that have been willing to support Russian foreign policy.
...
Reporting on the US probe, they suggest that besides Jobbik in Hungary and Front National in France, Golden Dawn in Greece and the Northern League in Italy will be also under tight scrutiny.

This shit isn't funny or trivial. It comes down to more skinheads on the street in Europe, thanks to Putin.

Far-right parties are spreading in Europe propelled by Putin's fa$cist funding. Incredible that there are some lefties who complain about Golden Dawn in Greece while supporting Putin in Russia as a supposed alternative to the West--without knowing Putin is funding Golden Dawn. Same for the National Front in France and Jobbik in Hungary.

is directly related to their dislike of the EU and it's institutions (all of which serve as virtual lapdogs for US militarism), not some ideological love affair or meeting of the minds. If Putin were the "new Hitler" and shared in those far-right views, then he certainly would welcome the openly neo-Nazi, Hitler-loving regime the US brought to power in Ukraine right? Shouldn't he be helping the Bandera-lovers succeed where Yanukovich failed?

The US fears cooperation between the EU states and those in Russia's orbit, thus they've convinced the Europeans to follow them into aggressive sanctions against Russia and the building up and expansion of NATO in the hopes of eventually forcing Russia back into the submissive, weak state it was in after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. All of this Western rhetoric and anti-Russian sentiment is directly tied into dominance and the attempt to remove any opposition to total US dominance of global affairs. People on the left (like myself) aren't usually pro-Putin or pro-Russian, but pro any government not willing to let the US war dogs chew them up and spit them out.

You obviously don't have a realistic grasp of history, uhnope. The United States, itself basically a far-right, pseudo-fascist country since its inception, has always, without fail, supported the most heinous and savage right-wing figures and parties around the globe and we still do today. In fact, many of our leaders were fond of Hitler's "reforms" in Germany and lavished praise on him and the work he was doing to eradicate the left in Germany. While Putin is no leftist, it is utterly ridiculous to say he is a far-right reincarnation of Hitler.

This type of rhetoric is insane, counterproductive, and frankly, childish.
