Amazon customer finds 10-inch 'Hulk' dildo in shopping basket after complaining about service

Source: International Business Times

An Amazon customer says a 10-inch dildo mysteriously appeared in his shopping cart on the online retailer's website after he left negative feedback about their customer service on a user feedback satisfaction survey.

IT contractor Pedro (surname not given), who lives in Ireland, ordered a specialised textbook from Amazon.de in October 2015 that he needed for an art class. However when it arrived, it turned out to be the wrong edition. As Amazon.de was the only Amazon website that he could get the textbook from, Pedro persevered, getting in contact with their customer service to try to get the right version.

Unfortunately, despite communicating back and forth, waiting for Amazon to locate the textbook in its warehouses and searching for the correct version himself online, customer service reps eventually told him that they were unable to find the textbook. They advised that he return the book he had been sent and that they would then give him a full refund, according to Ars Technica UK.

Pedro was not overly impressed by his shopping experience, so he left negative feedback about Amazon's customer service on a feedback satisfaction survey. The very next time he logged on to Amazon.de, he found that a rather large dildo – specifically a product named "The Hulk 10.25-inch Huge Dong Black" – had been added to his shopping basket.

Pedro took a screenshot of his shopping basket and emailed Amazon, asking them what was going on. Only after his complaint bounced between a number of customer service representatives did it finally end up with Andreas Mühlbauer of the "Executive Customer Relations" team at Amazon.de.

Thats good to know.

I'm a Vietnam Vet and I'd heard so many horror stories about the VA that I stayed away until I just couldn't stay away anymore and when I finally started going there, (for my health care,) I found out that it wasn't nearly as bad as the stories I'd heard and regretted not starting to use them way sooner.

people are less likely to share and repeat stories of normal or good experiences. Plus with the VA, the RW likes to spin it to turn opinion against government services in other areas.

Here's the deal. The world's richest people have decided that they can make more money by paying people a pittance, working them to the bone, and pocketing the proceeds. (I see that Bezos is worth just 56 BILLION, so I can understand his motivation)

But the human spirit being what it is, the customer service rep you talk to on the phone doesn't give a flying fuck about your problem, the drone serving up your fast food sandwich doesn't give a flying fuck if you enjoy your meal, and the peon checking out your groceries doesn't give a flying fuck if your bologna rings up 15 cents higher than it was marked on the shelf. It is not as if they have an incentive to please you. They get paid the same trickle down piss water whether you are satisfied or not.

The rich get richer, the middle class disappears, and the poor (who are working their asses off to keep the whole ship afloat, and not incidentally trying to feed, clothe and shelter themselves and their loved ones) are getting poorer.

So please try to place this minor act of rebellion in perspective. Wrong? Sure it is. Funny? Well, yeah, kind of.

P.S. Good luck to this customer in his career as an educated Art Major. I hope he is successful and never has to work as a drone a t Amazon. And if he does, I hope he finds as creative an outlet for his talent as the person he is so aggrieved by.

If they don't HAVE the item, they don't have the item, and yelling at the staff isn't going make the item appear, magically....I don't feel any sympathy for this guy at all and I am inclined to withhold judgment about who actually put that in his basket, too!

Furthermore, it's not unreasonable to assume they might have the item somewhere in the system since the item was listed on their website available for purchase.

They had his money, they at least owe him the courtesy of having someone get off their ass and look.

The time to tell him they don't have the item is BEFORE they take his dough.

ately went though their made to be sexist and racist interview process, as well as have friends there that tell me about the place and they hate it. I'll never go to an interview there again - 6 people and if one says no for any reason you don't get the job therefore it only takes one racist or guy who doesn't like women to keep minorities out. They did that on me and I know exactly the one who said no as I put up with his sexism and politely acted like it wasn't happening. It was a month long interview process to get that far and a terrible waste of time. I later met a guy from India who worked there and congratulated him for getting trough a process designed to keep non-whites out and he assured me he was trying to quit as soon as he could find another job and he got the job in the first place by transferring into it from somewhere else.

Whats the odds of not having a racist or a sexist on in your interview list out of 6 people? Slim to none. Half of America are Republicans and are politicized into being racist and sexist.

I've told several recruiters who have called trying to get me to take an interest in job openings there(I'm a systems engineer and they have a lot of systems engineering positions) that I refuse to interview there and wouldn't work there - and I tell them why. Everyone of them has agreed with me and said they keep hearing that from job candidates.

After trying to cancel (a process that seemed to drag on forever), they added a PLAYBOY Channel subscription to my account. Um, who even watches playboy these days with all the freely available porn on the Internet?! I was forced to call their "customer service" to have the channel and the fees removed. I should have made an official complaint.

I'm surprised to hear amazon employees would behave that way. I've always found their customer service to be exceptional.

I've belonged to Amazon Prime for years. I have never had a problem with customer service. Their customer service is great. I have to deal with people daily and some of them are total assholes without any reason. It would be interesting to find out if that were the case. If it were, most likely I would have wanted to send him a message too (although it would unprofessional to do so).

When certain customers have problems with orders, they believe customer service is always bad (no matter what store), as the customer always starts with accusations and insults. Sadly, I often deal with people like that.

Most likely the rep would never have done such a thing, except he wanted to point out what a "dick" that customer was. What better way to do that?
