Ten women have filed a lawsuit against Bill Gothard, who for decades was a major force in the US conservative Christian home-schooling movement, charging him and leaders in his ministry with sexual abuse, harassment and cover-up.
Gothard, who urged Christians to shun things like short skirts and rock music, is accused of raping a woman. The same woman says she was also raped by one of the ministry's biblical counsellors.
The lawsuit filed on Wednesday is part of a battle between dozens of women and the Institute in Basic Life Principles, which was until recently an influential home-schooling ministry, and its charismatic leader Gothard, who urged Christians to focus on their biblical character and have large families. Gothard has never been married.
Gothard, 81, resigned from the ministry in 2014 after more than 30 women had alleged that he had molested and sexually harassed women he worked with, including some who were minors.

So what did he do? He told his followers that wavy hair "enhances the countenance" and that long hair is biblically mandatory for women, and got them all to groom their teenage daughters to his personal taste.
That's why all the Duggar girls have that late 80s home perm look going on.

(581 posts)s who abused women. It is public record. The sad issue is most were never charged because of the conservative judge on the case. Look at the Governor of Fl, 14 time charged felon and was moved to Florida. GOP ran him for Governor, covered up his past history and he won. He still is governor. The Republicans love criminals for controlling states and even in DC.
