Ruiz: Cablevision accused of firing ‘exceptional’ Long Island worker over union activity

Thats the question many Cablevision workers are asking themselves as the cable giant finds itself involved, once again, in a legal dispute over its violation of workers rights.
This time the National Labor Relations Board took the unusual step of going to federal court last week to seek an injunction against the company. The reason? The illegal firing of a union activist at a call center in Nassau County.
The worker, Dorothea Perry, had been a Cablevision employee for 11 years, and her performance had been consistently described as exceptional. But Perry was unceremoniously fired after becoming the point person for a union organizing drive, according to the Communications Workers of America, the union that represents about 300 Cablevision workers.
