Hillary Clinton Unveils Plan to Stop Spread of ISIS
by Monica Alba and Alex Seitz-Wald
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -...................
.............But some of her biggest applause lines came when Clinton directly connected terrorism and the need for gun control. Acknowledging that Republicans would disagree with her, Clinton said it was simple: "Terrorists use guns to kill Americans. I think we should make it harder for them from to do that."
Saying "the phrase 'active shooter' should not be one we have to teach our children," Clinton said, "It defies common sense that Republicans in Congress refuse to make it harder for potential terrorists to buy guns."

Clinton Rolls Out Plan to Stop ISIS 4:05 Video
..............................
Minneapolis has one of the largest Muslim populations in the country, especially refugees from Somalia. That's made it fertile ground for recruitment, with the tenth arrest of a Minnesota man planning to join ISIS occurring just last week. At least 22 young men left the Twin Cities area to join the Somali militant group Al Shabaab between 2007 and 2009.
Before the speech, Clinton met with local Muslim leaders, including the first Somali-American member of the Minneapolis City Council, where her campaign says she discussed efforts to combat radicalization. ..............

Haaaahaaaha..
Sec of State Hillary Clinton just flicked that one right off her shoulder.
God they're dumb.

Wonder why she didn't say that when Bush asked congress for the power to go bomb Iraq... back then she was all like "hell yea lets do this shit! I vote yes!" Then the meddling with Qaddafi, aka "we came we saw he died", then the destabilization of Syria via force...
And now she's like "Hey I am smarter than you on this"... too bad the history doesn't suggest so. Carpet bombing until the desert glows has been her policy since her vote on the Iraq War Resolution.

(5,082 posts)Laugh it off if you want but I live in the real world. When he and her met in Europe when the tide was turning towards Obama I bet the Wall St power brokers and National Security establishment told them how it was gonna go. Deals were made. I often wonder given all Obamas flip flops we forgot about if he was blackmailed by them. Who knows...there's embarrassing info on every American in those call log databases now.

(1,309 posts)attacking our brave sister. No one should be blamed for mental illness like PTSD except the oligarchy and their political servants who perpetuate these wars for economic gain. Oops, that leads back to Hillary again. Sorry Hillary fans, I just cannot force myself to unsee what I have seen, How do you do it?

(598 posts)Some more of her speech...
"We are in it for the long haul and we will stand taller and stronger than they could possibly imagine."
(Like 13 years is not a long haul?)
Clinton acknowledged that Americans have a right to be fearful in this climate.
(Fear, fear, and more fear.)
She has repeatedly said that the fight against ISIS needs to take place in the air, on the ground, and in cyberspace.
(The war profiteers are loving it!)
The Democratic presidential frontrunner invoked an unlikely figure to make the point. "George W. Bush was right," she said, referring to his warning just says after the September 11 terror attack against vilifying Muslim-Americans.

George H. Bush suggested that Cheney may even have been pushed toward a harder line by his conservative wife and daughter, Liz and Lynne.
"You know, I've concluded that Lynne Cheney is a lot of the eminence grise here ... tough as nails, driving," Bush is quoted as saying.

(816 posts)The term tough as nails has been used by a great many people. Even the totally bat crap crazy have borrowed it. However used in the context of Hilary, it means she has more grit than most of her challengers, and will no doubt kick their collective asses. Wait for it.

(4,221 posts)Hillary has a plan stop the spread of ISIL?
We have a Commander in Chief NOW. He has access to all kinds of intel that she does not. We have generals and the Joint Chiefs NOW. Whatever she WILL be, that is a VERY long time from now.
Refugees' lives are on the line now. There is a horrible civil war now. Those lunatics are torturing and beheading human beings NOW.
She and her all-knowing advisers are more than welcome to get on the phone with Obama this second -- IF she really had anything to offer -- because we have 12 whole months of ISIL to deal with in the meantime. We have the French, allies, the UN and the entire western world working on that same problem now - how to stop ISIL, how to defeat ISIL.
Regardless of her intentions here, whether to promote her own toughness or to stomp on Cruz or whoever, this wound up being an insult to Barack Obama.
It was a not-too-subtle swipe at POTUS and his current strategy, and a swipe at the world leaders already working to stop the spread of ISIL.
Seriously, this is very unwelcome and over-the-top rhetoric.

We need less military, and more psychology. Every terrorist killed brings a martyr, who generates at least two more terrorists. Why they fail to see this is beyond me. Perhaps it is because they need to keep the military industrial complex going.

(4,825 posts)Cultivating fear is a most effective tool for the military industrial complex. Our economy thrives on war.
Any serious plan to stop ISIS should start by getting Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar to stop supporting them. And the U.S. supplies so many of the weapons that wind up in the hands of ISIS. We can't be that inept, can we?
