Huckabee spokeswoman leaves campaign

Source: Politico

Alice Stewart, the lead spokeswoman for former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee's campaign, has left his presidential campaign.

Stewart said Monday that she left her role as communications director and was no longer working for the campaign in any capacity. She declined to provide more details, saying only that she's "no longer" with the campaign.

The campaign released a brief statement in response.

"Alice Stewart is no longer with the Huckabee for President campaign. Hogan Gidley will handle all media operations moving forward," the campaign said.

1. I guess it's too much wishful thinking to assume he will go into political obscurity after this.

The evangelical candidates never win the primary let alone the general. The best they can hope for is Iowa but a win there does not translate into wins down the road in NH or SC. The so called persecution of Christians is not a path to political victory.

6. Actually, Huckabee did come close to winning the South Carolina primary in 2008.

McCain edged him out after Fred Thompson took far more votes away from Huckabee, at least according to the exit polling I saw at the time.

Iowa is better than most places for evangelicals because it is a caucus state and turnout is much lower than it would be for a primary. So the evangelicals dominate.

I expect Ted Cruz to win the Iowa Caucuses. I think it will be a close race between Trump and Cruz in South Carolina.

Rubio's best shot is to get Romney's endorsement right before New Hampshire. That could give him a burst of last minute momentum, and enable him to win the primary. It could also help a lot with Mormons, who are a huge percentage of caucus-goers in Nevada.

And she might've gotten on the Romney train at some point too.
