Source: MassLive.com

Connecticut will become the first state in the nation to ban people on terrorist watch lists from buying firearms in the state.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced Thursday that he will sign an executive order to deny gun permits to individuals on a federal no-fly list.

An estimated 10,000 names are on the no-fly list, containing names of individuals believed to have connections to terrorist organizations.

Our Supreme Court masters, in their black robed wisdom, have declared that we, individually, have the Constitutional right to "keep" and (it's coming) "bear" arms, akin to our First Amendment rights of free speech, due process, etc.

There is zero chance a court would permit some unnamed and unknown bureaucrats to strip a person of free speech, due process rights by some unknown information that the person cannot confront or dispute (right to confront accusers, anyone?).

Nor will a court uphold this, which is, alas also a Constitutional right.

It's BS done to make Republicans (who will oppose this) look "soft on terrorism" and like gun nuts.

CT will lose in court, and waste a lot of CT taxpayer money fighting this.

It's crap and I expect more from Democrats.

Interestingly, the ACLU came out against this law.

It's stupid political posturing.

This is a terrible Civil Liberties violation. This really is a litmus test - If you support this, guns or not, you don't believe in democracy.

focus around the fact that flying isn't a constitutional right, were as owning a gun is.

There is, however, a right to bear arms. There is zero chance any court lets this law stand. The courts will (should) never let our government remove rights, any rights, from it's citizens without due process and without redress.

The fact that this is about guns is a red herring. We would NEVER let this happen for other rights we are entitled to via the Constitution.

So different than FL, but that's where our jobs and families are, so here we stay - for now.
