Poll: Trump and Clinton have commanding leads in S.C.

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton each have dominating leads among their party's primary voters in South Carolina, with more than double and triple the support, respectively, of their nearest competitors.

The New York billionaire has 35 percent of likely South Carolina Republican primary voters, according to a Fox News poll released Wednesday. Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson comes in second, but at just 15 percent, while Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio are on his heels — and within the margin of error — at 14 percent. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has 5 percent, and all other candidates are at 2 percent or below.

The former secretary of state has 65 percent support in the poll, while Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has 21 percent and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley is at 3 percent.


Republicans polled said that national security is the most important issue when deciding who to vote for (39 percent). Economic issues come in second — 24 percent — and immigration comes in third with 16 percent.......................
