Macdonald easily beats Chin in Lewiston mayor’s race

Source: Bangor News

LEWISTON, Maine — Despite a rival campaign that outraised him by 15 times, Lewiston Mayor Robert Macdonald, a pugnacious conservative, won a third term in Tuesday’s runoff election.

There was no election night party for Macdonald, who was at home when results were announced. Earlier in the day, he gave a reporter a phone number to call, but he didn’t answer it.

But his wife, Virginia, reluctantly let a reporter and photographer into their home for an interview with the mayor, who was in his pajamas.

“At least I know that people appreciated what I went through the last four years,” he said.

Either that or not giving a shit seems to be why folks don't vote. In each case they get what they deserve.

it totally depresses me that 68% of registered voters choose not to vote.

Calling Ben Chin "Ho Chi Chin."

Ben has a bright future, though. I hope he runs for office again.

Ben ran a really good campaign. It is disappointing that he lost. I believe it is due to the recent terror attacks causing Islamophobia among a lot of the people here. I never cared for MacDonald. I think the man has no class. It is amazing to me that no one else seems to be appalled by the way he acted right after he got elected the first time around. Bad mouthing his opponent right after he won, and his opponent had DIED a few days prior. I will never forget that about MacDonald. I found that to be completely reprehensible, but I guess my fellow citizens thought that is an OK way to behave. I just not on the same wave length as most people I guess. I am usually thoroughly disappointed by the majority. I have come to expect that most election results will be the opposite of how I'd like to see them come out.

Towns across the state are cutting school funds, adult ed programs and infrastructure even though polls show the majority support that sort of spending.

The Tea Party wack jobs stir up fear with outright lies that they tell to the elderly population so they come out afraid the government is going to increase their property taxes or that muslims are going to enforce sharia law, and the younger progressive crowd are too busy or unaware to bother to vote.

This whole social media thing is really failing here.

The good people of Maine have get out the vote to counteract the LePlague and Mac-The-Donald lovers.
