Michael Vick to lobby for law to protect animals in hot cars

Source: AP

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Michael Vick is heading to the Pennsylvania statehouse to lobby legislators on a bill that would help protect pets left in hot cars.

Vick was a star quarterback for the NFL's Atlanta Falcons when he pleaded guilty in 2007 to being part of a dogfighting ring and ended up serving 21 months in prison.

He's now a backup quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

A Vick spokesman says he plans to meet with Democratic lawmakers Tuesday about legislation nicknamed the "Pets in Cars" bill. It would allow first responders to break into cars to rescue dogs or cats in distress without fear of being held liable for damages.

It's seeing the suffering that this jerk caused. Period. It's also the fact that there are many reports of Vick laughing it all off, meaning his supposed remorse is fake as shit. He got off with a slap on the wrist because of his notoriety.

Yes, I'll hate the jerk forever because of WHAT he did; not because of his skin color. Let's not conflate the two.

He wasn't just "funding" he was actively involved in the torture and murder of those dogs.

He's a sociopath, and that's not fixable.

He's only looking for attention and money now that his football career is ending.

Only a sociopath sticks cattle prods into a dog's rectum and electrocutes them for giggles.

You can't cure sociopathy. At least, not that we know of at this point.

He's only learned the "lesson" that his behavior will be punished.

Now that his football career is ending, he's looking for another way to get support and attention, and money.
Funny how that didn't matter before his star was fading.
Funny how he never felt the need to financially support the dogs that were confiscated from him.

"Redemption"...give me a break!

What Vick did was despicable. Perhaps this is one of those rare times where a combination of prison, guidance from positive sources and self-reflection has led Vick to be 'rehabilitated' to an extent.

He doesn't have to take the time to speak to legislators. He's choosing to speak to legislators. It could be all about the PR, but from what I've heard it sounds to me like he's atoning for sin.
