Chipotle shares take fresh hit after Boston College students fall ill
Source: Yahoo! News / Reuters
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - More than 20 Boston College students got sick after eating at Chipotle Mexican Grill over the weekend, sending its shares down 6 percent in extended trading on Monday on fears of more food poisoning problems at the popular burrito chain.
Chipotle said it had temporarily closed its restaurant in Boston's Cleveland Circle, where a college spokesman said all the students reported eating, while it works with local health officials to investigate the illnesses.
The sickened students included members of the Boston College men's basketball team, spokesman Jack Dunn said.
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health received 20-plus reports of illness from Boston College students and is working to determine if they are tied to a Chipotle-linked outbreak of E. coli, spokesman Scott Zoback said.

(11,843 posts)Since they have found no specific ingredient causing this, maybe they need to start looking at employees and financial records. Any new employees that have worked at other locations nationwide? Is there anyone shorting the stock?

(7,302 posts)A decent company by most standards of today and they keep poisoning people! I'm amazed that they are still having issues with this. They could have raised and slaughtered their own hand picked herd by now. Btw, who is BC playing next? I'm going short on BC for 72 hours.

(46,354 posts)Yes, I know, I am being a little facetious.
And I do think there probably is no connection between Chipotle patrons getting sick and their not using GMO's.
But just today I read yet *ANOTHER* asshole going on Alex Jones' show and saying "Da gov'mint done it!" in San Bernadino.
Apparently according to Alex Jones, *ONLY* the government can cause mass shootings, bombings like Oklahoma City, and so on.
If this "Grand Conspiracy" actually did exist, why is Alex Jones still even alive?

(92,427 posts)coast to the west coast, I would really hope they are looking for possible criminal activity involvement in this, and are monitoring who has been shorting the stock, especially just before the outbreak.
Something just doesn't add up

(92,427 posts)In the Box had an e coli outbreak they were able to track it down quickly to the ground beef. In fact that is when they established minimum cooking standards for the meat. Because of that, many restaurants will not serve meat less than medium.
I usually jump on those with tin foil conspiracies , and now I am doing it myself...
