Christie on Trump 9/11 claim: 'Didn't happen'

Source: CNN

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Monday that Donald Trump was wrong when he said that Muslims cheered in the streets of New Jersey after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

"It didn't happen and the fact is, people can say anything but the facts are the facts and that didn't happen in New Jersey that day and hasn't happened since," Christie said Monday.

The comments mark a clearer stance from Christie than last week, when he said he couldn't remember if the Muslims cheered the attacks in the streets. Christie said Monday the press had over-analyzed his comments and that he had always said that the cheering never happened.

"People micro-analyze every word. I said 'I don't remember it' and I wanted to qualify that day not that I thought it happened but just to remind people that that was a very emotional day for me. It was personally emotional, and I was not focused on everything that was going on all across the state. What I was focused on was my wife and my brother who were in lower Manhattan and who I hadn't heard from for a long, long time. But definitively, I've said this a number of times: It didn't happen," Christie said Monday.

Fifteen years of paling around with the Donald all goes down the flush. I'm going to miss those free meals the Donald puts on,
he really puts out a helluva spread. And he can afford it too !

I've been kicked down to the minors ,called names like kiddie player ,little boy blues evil twin fat boy blue ,traffic terminator ,just to name a few.
I confess ,my campaign was on life support and I was fading fast. Than suddenly I snagged the big break, the endorsement ,I'm back in the game big time.

You read what it said about those well meaning no experience business types no names mentioned, and those two senators the country doesn't need in the white house.

What you didn't read is the terms of endearment ,the trade off, I gotta get tough on Donald.
I gotta tell like it is .

To tell you the truth There Donald is not a skilled tested and tried lier ,he does not stand on equal ground with us professional liars. And furthermore he doesn't know when to take his licks than sit down and shut up. In fact, he never shuts up and that's his problem! His other problem is nobody in his circle of association will call him on his lies, so he convinced himself over the years that his liars technique is nothing short of perfect. And that couldn't be further from the truth of matter. The truth is he's a lousy lier ! Again it's just like I said ,in his circle of association nobody will dare call him out on his lies, and not even his closest confidants will clue him in on how lousy a lier he is !

Ok so I'm here to tell you today ,New York city is forever trying to dump it's garbage collection trash over in New Jersey, and what I am obligated to do, since the big endorsement you know, is send all the Donald's trash right back to him !
I got to strike him out and than on out of the game .

That's the new deal and it's brand new ball game !
I hate to be the one who must do it, but I can't back down, I have certain obligations now that I'm a made man !
That's right folks it's out with the old and in with the new. I got plenty of room in the new Christie circle of association and a hell of lot of old kling on's on their way to the dump off, passage paid reserved seating under the bus.

And I ain't gonna be kissing the Donald's ass no more no more !

But it's embarrassing how pigheaded people can be here regardless of annoying little things like facts. If it doesn't fit their narrative they deny it. But it's undeniable who was arrested for celebrating.

Donald Trump’s Mocking of Reporter 'Not Worthy' of a Candidate, Chris Christie Says

In his second major jab at Donald Trump in 24 hours, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie slammed the Republican front-runner for his apparent mocking of New York Times reporter Serge Kovaleski, who has a muscular disability.

"He shouldn't be making fun of people's disabilities. It's just not worthy of someone running for president of the United States,” Christie said today on CNN’s “New Day.”

Christie went on to say he wouldn't he hesitate to tell Trump to sit down and shut up if the context merited it.

"If Donald starts yelling and screaming at me in the middle of a speech, you could be sure that I'll say sit down and shut up," Christie said.

Trump has denied that he was mocking Kovaleski’s illness, insisting that he doesn’t know him and was unaware of his condition, and that he would never make fun of someone with a disability. Kovaleski has rebutted Trump’s claim that he doesn’t know who he is, saying he was on a first-name basis with the real estate mogul when he covered him for the New York Daily News in the 1980s.

The latest Christie remark comes after he publically admonished Trump Monday for his claim that thousands of Muslims celebrated the 9/11 attacks in New Jersey, saying it simply didn’t happen. Christie had previously stopped short of shooting down Trump’s claim outright.

“It didn’t happen and the fact is, people can say anything, but the facts are the facts, and that didn’t happen in New Jersey that day and hasn’t happened since,” Christie told reporters at a campaign stop in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Monday.

Trump came under fire last week after appearing to imitate Kovaleski’s muscular disorder during a speech in South Carolina.

Kovaleski wrote a story for the Washington Post a week after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks that referred to allegations of "tailgate-style parties on rooftops" in New Jersey after the World Trade Center towers fell.

Trump has pointed to Kovaleski's story as evidence that his claim that "thousands" of Muslims in New Jersey celebrated the World Trade Center’s collapse. But Kovaleski has since said he never heard about "thousands or even hundreds" of people celebrating and that he doesn’t recall the allegations of isolated celebrations ever being confirmed.

Trump has since accused Kovaleski of trying to retract his story and continues to insist that he saw thousands of Muslims celebrating the 9/11 attacks on TV in New Jersey.

Giuliani refutes Trump’s 9/11 claim: ‘We had some pockets’ of people celebrating — not thousands

Donald Trump’s claim that he saw “thousands and thousands of people” in New Jersey cheering the destruction of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, has been refuted by police, elected officials, religious leaders, fact-checkers and the media — and, now, the mayor of New York City on 9/11: Rudy Giuliani.

“We did have some celebrating — that is true,” Giuliani said on CNN’s “New Day” on Tuesday. “We had some pockets of celebrating.”

How many pockets?

“Ten. Twelve? Thirty. Forty,” Giuliani recalled. “We had one situation in which a candy store owned by a Muslim family was celebrating that day, right near a housing development. And the kids in the housing development came in and beat them up.”

“We expected a lot of irrational acts of violence against people who appeared to be Islamic or Muslim, and we had very, very little,” Giuliani continued. “And we did have some reports of people celebrating that day as the towers were coming down.”

But according to Giuliani, there weren’t “thousands and thousands,” as Trump has repeatedly said.
