COLORADO SPRINGS Jennifer Markovsky was one of the three people killed in a shooting spree at a Planned Parenthood clinic here Friday, her father told The Denver Post on Sunday.
John Ah-King said his daughter, a 36-year-old married mother of two, was accompanying a friend to the clinic when she was killed.
"She was the most lovable person," Ah-King said from his home in Hawaii. "So kind-hearted, just always there when I needed her."
Ah-King said he found out about his daughter's death from his other daughter who had been contacted by friends. "I couldn't believe it," Ah-King said through sobs. "I just messaged her Thursday to say happy Thanksgiving."

(51,457 posts)I will never understand how a non-viable, clump of cells can be held in higher regard than a living, breathing wife, mother, or daughter. A zygote is a potential human being, that may not ever make it to birth for a great number of reasons. Only a third of all fertilized ova do. However, this woman, Jennifer Markovsky was a person and meant everything to her family. RIP

(1,560 posts)She is sadly gone but there are thousands of others whose lives are waiting to be taken as we speak so please lets not settle for just condolences and statements. Get involved in gun safety organizations and work to elect lawmakers who actually give a damn about stopping this sick culture of death we have in relation to guns. We owe it to them.

(1,254 posts)That this ever growing resort to violence did not spring from a vacuum. It has been cultivated in this country for decades and we refuse to RECOGNIZE the resulting consequences. Violence has become a common part of our entertainment. Movies, TV shows, video games, comic books, the net. You name it. We asked for it and those who make money from this culture gave it to us. What is the basic premise/scenario contained in these offerings.....have a grievance with something or someone, you can solve it with/through violence. Don't like someone, who they are, their beliefs or differences. Feel someone has disrespected you? The easy peasy SOLUTION to your problems is provided......BLAST AWAY. Just pick up a gun and get to it. Its not the guns causing the problems, its REALLY our unwillingness to recognize what is BEHIND this. People poop poop blaming our blood thirst for violence laced entertainment as contributing to crime. That is because we rationalize it on our own personal experience. We turn a blind eye to the fact that this has a profound affect on some people who whole heartedly absorb and accept the message. It is not make believe to them. And what about kids being raised on this? How many parents know what is going on in the minds of their kids exposed to this? Most parents would never expect their kids to do something violent, harm others and yet time and again we see this. We have to start speaking out against the culture of our own creation. It won't stop all crime, but it will stop people from thinking that violence is a solution to our personal problems.
