Texas GOP official wants secession on the primary ballot

Texas GOP official wants secession on the primary ballot
By Dylan Baddour
Updated 5:19 pm, Tuesday, November 24, 2015

A member of the executive committee for the Republican Party of Texas plans to introduce a resolution at the group's next meeting, which would add to the party's primary ballot a non-binding measure for Texas secession. Party leadership calls the prospect unlikely.

Tanya Robertson, State Republican Executive Committee member for Senate District 11, which covers parts of Harris, Galveston and Brazoria counties, said she'll present the resolution at the committee's December 4 meeting in Austin, and that she already has support from a few other members.

"There's been a big groundswell of Texans that are getting into the Texas independence issue," she said, citing conversations she's had with constituents. "I believe conservatives in Texas should have a choice to voice their opinion."

. . .

Robertson got the idea for the resolution from the Texas Nationalist Movement, a small secessionist group that has tried but so far failed to raise the necessary 75,000 signatures to put a non-binding secession vote on the March ballot. When she heard that news she thought she could help, though she isn't a member of the TNM.

I'm more surprised at the reading comprehension of my fellow liberals around here that these yahoos. I thought we were the smarter party?

I understand that it may just be your boiling-blood level of vitriol and physical-universe-absolute level of hatred for my fair state, but try to pay attention instead of just mouthing off. It doesn't come across as what I would call liberal-minded in the least.

When she heard that news she thought she could help, though she isn't a member of the TNM.

I suspect, too, that she only talked to conservative constituents. Because I haven't heard anything about this supposed "groundswell" of support from my liberal friends here in Houston. We're also about to elect another liberal Mayor. Maybe she's just upset about that

I hear this crap from somebody on a monthly basis and I respond to them the way we've been responding to this OP. There's no other way! Reason won't work because these people are as small in mind as they are in number. So, it's not really about kicking Texas out of the Union but about ridiculing these idiots.

They had issues with quarantines, lets not forget the Ebola situation, because there legislature was gutting the hospitals to prevent that stuff, from spreading.
Then they have there Gestapo police pulling people over and they really don't do anything except they didn't turn on a turn signal , and then they just jump up and down and send some inmates to the death chamber even if they are innocent.
Brownsville the water is disgusting, right along with the other port facilities exporting oil, and then there corporations down there, like DuPont for starters has the highest cancer and health issue rates in the country, and then they have town that was blown to smithereens, because of the chemicals, form some criminal unethical businessman was not reporting what he was storing near the town, who was circumventing the OSHA and EPA requirements when it comes to chemical mishaps.
Let them leave the United States, let them feel the full wrath of them paying for all of this on there own, with there worthless currency they would have to print---------------again-------------------see ya , don't let the door hit them in the proverbial ............................. good riddance

RWers have an almost impossible hurdle to clear when it comes to winning the presidency. With a Democrat in the White House, a Republican Congress will be able to enact very little. The Supreme Court will eventually become liberal again. RWers will become even more detached from and angry with the federal government so they will retreat to their smaller state strongholds where crazy, traitorous ideas like secession appear to be the only way for them to counter the hated federal government.

I don't think any of these secession movements will amount to anything; but who knows what will happen if we (Dems) win a fourth consecutive election in 2020 and a fifth one in 2024.
