URBANA — After 16 months of negotiations, the University of Illinois has reached a tentative contract agreement with the union representing more than 1,300 clerical and other employees.

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 3700 sent a letter to its members this week, announcing the tentative settlement.

The union won’t release any details to the public or its members until a series of meetings to be scheduled after Thanksgiving to ratify the contract.

A UI spokeswoman also said the university can’t discuss the terms until after the vote.
