Blue Dog Dems to back GOP refugee bill

Source: The Hill

Bucking President Obama and party leaders, Blue Dog Democrats will support GOP legislation to bolster security checks on Syrian and Iraqi refugees, the group announced Wednesday evening.

"In the wake of the horrific attacks in Paris, we must step back and reassess our existing procedures for admitting and monitoring refugees from Iraq and Syria," Rep. Brad Ashford (D-Neb.) said in a statement.

"I am proud of America's legacy as a welcoming nation to people fleeing violence in their home countries," he added, "but during the process of admitting refugees from countries associated with ISIS, we have to ensure that those coming to the U.S. do not pose a threat to the American people."

The conservative-leaning Blue Dogs are 15 members strong, though only 10 have announced their support the Republicans' bill — just enough to earn the group's official endorsement, a spokesman said Wednesday.

What they say is whatever Democrat wins a nomination for office (be it Hillary or Bernie for example) is that we cannot then come here on the DU and try to get people vote for someone other than the nominee and thats all it says.
Before an election when people are running to get on the ticket its pretty much fair game and that means if you want to unseat one of the Blue Dogs and try to get support for someone else here on the DU you can as long as you obey the ToS for the DU.

Fear itself." Maybe it's "our way of life" that is causing all this. The orphans of US bombs over the past twenty five years.

so that would be a big reversal. I wish all of our candidates would get on board with an increase in the number of refugees that we will admit.

"bucking" President Obama since day one. Their loyalty to the party and POTUS has always been a shameful example, to me of democrats who are ___________! This is a small, small example of their not EVER having our Presidents back and one of the major reasons President Obama has had such a tough time getting meaningful legislation to help the american people through Congress. Never have, never will be in our Presidents corner. Snakes, all of them.
