Paul moving to halt refugee visas
Source: The Hill
Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.), a GOP presidential candidate, is proposing a bill to impose an "immediate moratorium on visas for refugees" in light of last week's terror attacks in Paris.
"The best way to defend the country from attackers that don't really have an army, but come here as individuals, is to prevent their access into this country," Paul told reporters on Monday.
"It is about time, and I think Paris should wake us up to the fact that we can't just let anyone come to this country," he added.
The bill would also halt all visas, including those for students and tourists, from about 30 countries that have "significant jihadist movements," according to Paul. The restriction would be lifted once Congress certifies that a country has complete control over who is entering and exiting the country.

(6,699 posts)When I see a bumper sticker of a Paul supporter, I just shake my head in disbelief.
Do they seriously consider the whole package, or just one silly, over-simplified talking point?
Nation of morons.

(12,336 posts)Germany is letting in more Syrian refugees than any other country and they haven't had a lick of trouble. So Randy Paul, kiss my rosy red ass.
Incidentally, if my language makes anyone uncomfortable, too bad. I ain't apologizing.

adam lanza had many guns and wasn't a problem till he was.
I don't think the statement about Germany is proof the all the refugees and safe law abiding refugees

(53 posts)With so many refugees coming in, I'm actually surprised there haven't been more problems. There will always be some bad apples, but it seems the majority of refugees are doing their best to fit in. A step back in history perhaps provides some perspective on the whole refugee problem:

(2,957 posts)So, we're seeing instantaneous federal legislation only 48 hours after a foreign terrorist massacre. But after twenty-some Sandy Hook kids and teachers get slaughtered - crickets.
A domestic mass shooting every couple of weeks, and these people are worried about a bunch of people we don't know, who aren't here yet, coming in to shoot Americans?
