TSA employees' union picket outside Bush Airport

Source: KHOU

HOUSTON - TSA employee union members picketed outside of Bush Airport on Saturday.

The members said they are treated worse than workers at any other federal agency.

The workers are in contract negotiations and are asking to be put on the same pay scale as Customs and Border Patrol employees.

They also said they want more collective bargaining rights. Some of the members said the low morale of the workers could affect passenger safety.

As for being on the same pay scale as CBP? HAHAHAHAHAHA. That is completely laughable. TSA couldn't catch a terrorist if he announced himself with glowing neon signs. If it were up to me, I would have gotten rid of the TSA a loooonnnngggggg time ago.

And their right to collectively bargain.

TSA pay scales are significantly below other federal workers.

They deserve better.

4. They should have a Union and the Airline Corps should start paying for at least half of TSA costs.

Same for 'for profit' detention camps for refugees & 'for profit' prisons. Pay back the Federal & State taxpayer money out of those 'profits' or make those Corps, non-profits.

6. I think the airlines should be responsible for the full cost of screening

They have much more invested in the airport and will do whatever they feel is necessary to protect their assets, with more abundant resources. There should be a pool in which all airlines using a specific airport chip in so much per ticket sold. Even the airports that only get 20,000 passengers/year and a few flights per week can add an extra 5 bucks or so to the ticket to cover security costs. Maybe the airport can cover a portion. The TSA has proven their incompetence time and time again. It's time to ditch them.
