Actor Who Voiced Charlie Brown Pleads Guilty to Death Threats

Source: Time

A 59-year-old man who voiced Charlie Brown in multiple “Peanuts” television specials pleaded guilty Tuesday to threatening to hire a hitman to kill the San Diego County sheriff.

Prosecutors said Peter Robbins offered money to have Sheriff Bill Gore murdered, according to the Los Angeles Times. He also pleaded guilty to threatening the manager of a mobile home park in an unrelated incident.

Robbins told the court that he suffers from bipolar disorder and paranoid schizophrenia.

“I’m mentally ill,” he said. “I’ve committed no crime.”

person claims innocence on the basis of mental illness. It seems like the kind of thing a lawyer and a doctor should be claiming. Good luck to this unfortunate person.
