Terminally-ill 'Star Wars' fan, whose final wish was to see 'The Force Awakens', succumbs to cancer

Source: Chron

By Craig Hlavaty

The terminally-ill Spring man who fulfilled his dying wish by seeing the newest Star Wars film before he succumbed to an aggressive form of cancer has died, according to reports.

Daniel Fleetwood, 32, died on Tuesday according to his wife Ashley Fleetwood on Facebook.

It was just a few weeks ago that the Twitter hashtag #ForceForDaniel began to gain international notoriety as strangers – some more famous than others -- all over the world lobbied for the cancer-stricken Star Wars fan to see “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” before its official Dec. 18 opening date.

The #ForceForDaniel movement quickly spread across the Internet, even catching the attention of some film's actors, including Mark Hamill who plays Luke Skywalker.

I am so happy to know that his last wish was fulfilled and that his heart was full of love - he was clearly well loved and well cared for. Peace on your journey.

He was shown the film just last Thursday. I'm so glad that the studio fulfilled his last wish. My condolences to his wife and family.

Rest in peace, Daniel, and may the force be with you.
