The U.S. Navy launched a second missile from a submarine off the coast of Southern California on Monday, two days after an unannounced launch that caused alarm and speculation along the West Coast among those who witnessed the missile streaking through the night sky.

The tests were conducted by the Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs.

According to the Navy, today’s launch from a submarine of an unarmed Trident II D5 ballistic missile was the second and final part of what it calls demonstration and shakedown operations.

Both missiles landed in the Eastern Missile Range near Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.

Navy Reportedly Performs Second Missile Test Off West Coast

(CBS SF) — After a missile test caused a social media firestorm over the weekend, a United States Navy submarine reportedly launched a second missile for testing off the Southern California coast Monday.

According to the Los Angeles Times, a ballistic submarine launched an unarmed Trident II (D5) missile Monday afternoon. The missile used in Monday’s test was the same type used on Saturday.

The Navy told the Times that the launches were part of a planned exercise and that they are done with testing for the time being.

“We don’t announce future launches, but this is it for any time soon,” Navy Strategic Systems Programs office spokesperson John M. Daniels told the newspaper.

Even so, it was a little disturbing to see. They would often send them off at sunset, so it would make a strange creepy looking trail against the sunset. Back then, I recall hearing on the radio that they were going to shoot a missile at sunset.
This one, however, seemed to have taken everyone by surprise—especially the George Noory crowd.

where we want. Then we warm up our missiles.

I wonder if they are shooting some practice shots as well?

Global warming.

The airspace was closed the day before, under circumstances described by the press as typical for military testing.

Kay: All right, Beatrice, there was no alien. The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

Jay: Wait a minute. You just flash that thing, it erases her memory, and you just make up a new one?

Kay: A standard issue neuralyzer.

Jay: And that weak-ass story's the best you can come up with?

Kay: On a more personal note Beatrice, Edgar ran off with an old girlfriend. You're gonna go stay with your mom a couple nights. You're gonna get over it and decide you're better off.

Jay: Well, yeah, you know, 'cause 'cause he never appreciated you anyway. In fact, you know what - you kicked HIM out! And now that he's gone you're gonna go into town, you go to Bloomingdale's and find some nice dresses, get yourself some shoes, you know, find somewhere, maybe you can get a facial. And, uh, oh - hire a decorator to come in here quick, 'cause... DAMN.

America can do this anytime it pleases but when some other country does it, it threatens the world and America complains?
