BREAKING: Chris Christie Vetoes Legislation Making It Easier To Vote In New Jersey

Republican presidential candidate, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, with wife Mary Pat, gets ready to sign papers to be on the nation's earliest presidential primary ballot, Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, at The Secretary of State's office in Concord, N.H.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) vetoed legislation Monday that would have added 1.6 million new voters to the state’s rolls and made New Jersey the third state in the country to adopt automatic voter registration.

After sitting on the “Democracy Act” for almost five months, the governor and Republican presidential candidate vetoed his second voting rights-related bill in three years, according to the Brennan Center for Justice. Christie has previously said that he does not support making it easier for residents of his state to vote.........

“In New Jersey, we have early voting that are available to people,” he said in June. “I don’t want to expand it and increase the opportunities for fraud.”

But Analilia Mejia, the director of New Jersey Working Families, which spearheaded the initiative to have lawmakers introduce the legislation, told ThinkProgress earlier this year that the bill would not be “reinventing the wheel.”

“Most of these things have been moved and adopted in other states successfully,” she said. “It’s just mind-bending that a governor of a state would be against every single one of his citizens having full ease and access to participate in the voting process.”

32% voter turnout for the strange Kentucky State elections just last week is apparently about where the election fascists like it.

Massive voter turnout/low turnout must really screw with the polling models as well.

Christie will be at the children's table - fittingly, he really is a 1%er!

The early debate is expected to be viewed by none.

Senator Graham didn't even qualify to debate!

Even the Republican propaganda channels have had enough!

Mary Pat is so frequently photographed grinning inanely at Chrstie whenever he's doing something (usually yelling at some poor New Jersey resident). You see it so often--what's up with that?

I've noticed this. It's very unsettling. She is constantly grinning or laughing while looking at her husband. It's a very weird kind of grin too. Almost maniacal.

There's something not quite "right" about Mary Pat..seriously.

The message my brother Chrissiee sent is simply walk the other way .

Todd wrote on his profile that he is 'willing to try most anything once'.
Today Christie was asked by Daily Mail Online about his account and the allegation that he cheated on his wife at his home in Mendham, New Jersey and said simply: 'Walk away. Walk away.'
The 51-year-old was red-eyed and slammed shut the oak door after he was asked whether he had squared the extramarital sex accusations with his wife Andrea.
'Todd knows that he‘ll probably lose his family - and that it could cost Chris the Republican nomination,' the source told InTouch.
'Chris should not be guilty by association, but Todd's actions will surely be associated with the Christie family's character.

"I don't want everybody to vote. Elections are not won by a majority of the people..... As a matter of fact, our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down."

Republicans have learned this lesson well. Overturning the veto will require Republican cooperation in the legislature.

I bet you a strawberry sundae at Carvel's on Wednesday that the veto is not overturned.
