Larry David returns as Bernie Sanders for hilarious 'Saturday Night Live' parody

Source: Business Insider

Colin Campbell

Actor Larry David returned to the set of "Saturday Night Live" this weekend to lampoon Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) again.

The show's cold-open sketch featured an impersonation of Sanders and the two other Democratic candidates at the Friday night presidential forum hosted by MSNBC.

"OK. OK. I don't need no fancy introduction. I'm not Elvis Presley. Let's just get on with it," David said as he was being introduced as a "second-term senator."

David's impersonation of Sanders last month won praise for portraying the Brooklyn-accented senator as extremely cranky, broke, and easily distracted. That portrayal returned in full form this weekend.

His Bernie is SPOT ON! The majority of the current cast, I can do without. Very little of this episode was funny, but Larry David made it worth the watch. If only the rest of the cast can learn how to do impressions while being funny. The current actress who does Hillary is terrible in every role she does.

Amy Poehler, IMHO, was the BEST Hillary. I miss Bobby Moynihan as Brian Kilmeade as well.

….for being the one to shout "You're a racist" from the SNL audience. It shrunk the whole genuine issue into mere parody and comedy. I made a point of not watching this episode but read about David's role. He colluded with Lorne and Trump to defang the protest.

Guess racism is now just an in-joke between a bunch of old white guys.

How great it would have been to have an actual audience member shout that. Having a respected and talented comedian make a joke out of it had the opposite effect. Shame on Larry David.

but its a free country (as far as buying a ticket and going to a show). That's like asking did BLM honestly believe that Bernie Sanders was going to allow them to disrupt his show. It has nothing to do with belief.

I just think that because it is a ticket item (I'm assuming), and its supposed to be a funny, fun evening for people, plus the platform is just wrong, as SNL already uses satire and comedy to highlight those same issues on a weekly basis. I don't think anyone took the bait.

It implied he was dirty because he had less money. This is an insult against working people. Yet Bernie just keeps marching along concentrating on the issues. It is clear the MSM including SNL iis working for Hillary, by such tactics and diverting our attention to Trump and away from the real race between Bernie and Hillary. This line of attack is disgusting and never would be applied to Hillary.
