Protest against Trump hosting 'Saturday Night Live' grows

Source: AP

By FRAZIER MOORE

NEW YORK (AP) — Pressure continued to mount on NBC to cancel Donald Trump's guest-host appearance on this weekend's "Saturday Night Live" as a coalition of advocacy groups delivered petitions to the network Wednesday calling for him to be dropped from the show.

The petitions delivered to 30 Rockefeller Plaza, home of NBC and "Saturday Night Live," marked the latest attempts to dissuade the network from allowing the Republican presidential hopeful to host the show, with the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda earlier asking that NBC reconsider the decision.

"There's mounting evidence that Donald Trump's racist demagoguery is resulting in real-world violence and physical and verbal intimidation," Mushed Zaheed, deputy political director of Credo Action, one of the participating groups, said in a statement.

In advance of the show, NBC released promotional spots featuring Trump that included one in which he refers to a Republican opponent, Ben Carson, as "a complete and total loser."

from a network besides Fox.

Dirty, underhanded, sneaky pandering to a greedy, loathsome, dull piece of crap.

They shouldn't have to be nudged to know better. Everyone else certainly does.

They could just show a rerun instead. Even during their regular season they show many reruns. They might have to adjust the fees for advertising. I'm no expert but I'm assuming they get more for advertising on a new show than a rerun.

A good tactic may be to threaten to boycott advertisers if Trump hosts. Hit them (SNL) in the pocketbook by scaring off sponsors.

Money talks. This loud mouth, digusting low-life SOB brings in ratings. That's why anyone is even paying attention to the repuKKKe clown circus that is going on. That's why CNN and MSNBC invite the jack ass to interviews. It brings in ratings.

Lorne Michaels is just as much a pig as any other program on our capitalistic line-up of near death programs. You can bet they will get good ratings. You can bet your last dime that the video clips will be playing for years to come. Thanks SNL, for selling your soul to the devil. I have ZERO respect for your twisted humor any longer. My little viewership isn't going to make a dent in their ratings, but I'm done with SNL.

Disgusting sell out!

Creative interpretation that her portrayal of a bartender is a "love-fest." And the additional guess-work on who wrote it improves the fiction too. As for guess-work...

I'm guessing you're not even aware of the inherent bias in your premise, and will rationalize it as something completely differently to better maintain the pretense of rational thought... looking forward to that bit of bemusing creativity, too!

I mean if Stephen Colbert ran on the same words we'd laugh because he's "in character" but with Trump it's hard to know where the schtick begins a la Andy Kaufman / Tony Clifton, which generates comedic tension: is Trump really this out-of-touch Archie Bunker type or is he playing one on TV for laughs? Or is it the Ann Coulter thing where it's better to be reviled than unnoticed? (I assume other comedians are in on the Coulter "joke" or they wouldn't keep inviting her back on Bill Maher et al.) I mean it's hard to judge ever since politics and reality TV merged, the choices are faux-reality stars like the mock-Duck rednecks or Klondike Kardashians versus far less accomplished comedians, so it's hard to say "no! this crosses the line!" when we get our news from comedians and our comedy from bad actors playing civil servants.

No more problems.

Power symbol

IEC 5009, the standby symbol (line partially within a broken circle), indicates a sleep mode or low power state. The switch does not fully disconnect the device from its power supply. This may appear on a toggle switch opposite a power on symbol, alone on a pushbutton that places the device into a standby state, or alone on a button that switches between on and standby. Alternatively, under IEEE 1621, this symbol simply means "power".
