On Monday afternoon, Hillary Clinton met with the surviving family members of African-American children killed by gun violence, including the mothers of Tamir Rice, Michael Brown, and Trayvon Martin.
Sybrina Fulton, Trayvon Martin's mother, told CNN the meeting was "powerful" and productive. U.S. Congressman Bobby Rush (D-IL) was also seen at the restaurant where the meeting took place.
Tamir Rice's mother, Samantha, said, "She is a mother and she is a woman and I felt she understood where we were coming from. It doesn't matter what color we are, I felt that she really understand where we are coming from."
The meeting comes amid Clinton's campaign trail push to highlight her platform on criminal justice reform and her efforts to connect with the large Black Lives Matter movement. The movement was sparked by Martin's killing by a neighborhood watch volunteer in Florida. It grew following the deaths of Brown, who was shot by a policeman in Ferguson, Missouri, and Rice, a 12-year-old who was shot and killed by an officer in Cleveland.....................

Lesley McSpadden, mother of Michael Brown, also attended the meeting, which had been in the works "for months," according to a Clinton aide

@HillaryClinton
Grateful to spend time today with mothers who have lost a child to violence and turned their grief into a national call to action. -H

(51,564 posts)So you claim Hillary played the "gender card" in talking to Trayvon's mother because they connected as mothers...because well, they're both mothers.
So did Obama play the "gender card" or the "race card" when he said Trayvon could have been his son?
What a disgusting post, 1000words.

(51,564 posts)Like I said, would you claim Obama played the "race card" or the "gender card" when he said Trayvon could have been his son?
Do you have to lose a child to be able to show empathy to a parent that did?
Trayvon's mother obviously disagrees with your shameful assessment.

(37,748 posts)Conflating bias and reality simply illustrates your own biases... nothing more. Maintaining the pretense that you have absolute knowledge of what she may or may not know of others on a personal level merely validates that.

(30,249 posts)Hillary is a mother and the others are too. That's what they have in common. One can have empathy without being in the same circumstances as another person. FDR and the Kennedys were never poor and far wealthier than the Clintons, yet they had empathy for those who had less.
Your argument has no merit, other than to bash Hillary.

It's getting funny how Hillary runs along after Bernie in focusing on issues.
I see a cartoon in the making.

(5,082 posts)Even the private Hillary group here is fading. Everyone hates her. She is a liar and an ally of the Bush Family. You are are underestimating the public and being a fool. Watch. Democracy is not static.

(30,249 posts)You must be living in a bubble. As for Hillary supporters "fading" here, we just don't care to come to this anti-Hillary site. We have other sites that we prefer.
