About that KKK Dox
Source: Gizmodo
This was done by a high-ranking employee at a jail to harass a union member, Aiken told me. That employee, Aiken alleges, is Kirk Eady, the former Deputy Director of the Hudson County Correctional Center. Eady is currently on the other side of the bars. He was convicted for wiretapping Aiken, along with other union-affiliated coworkers at the jail, in September.
Evidence in the court case included an email thread showing another one of Eadys targets, union representative Daniel Murray, trying to piece together how he got signed up for the Pelham, North Carolina-based Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan mailing list.
(...)
Aiken and Murray believe Eady did the same KKK signup scheme to her business. After receiving notice that she was in the Anonymous dump, she went back through her email and found a sign-up message from the same Pelham, North Carolina-based chapter of the Klan as Murray, from the same time period Murray was signed up.

So it looks like "the list" is a list of email addresses entered in a form on a KKK web site. By anyone.

(5,902 posts)You get ahead of damaging revelations by floating rumors that mirror a real scandal; but with at least one glaring and easily-disproved fallacy and usually by using someone disreputable to begin with.
When the real evidence of wrongdoing later emerges, most people won't believe it.
He may not have had a direct hand in this one. But Turd Blossom is probably the authority on this tactic; Jim Hatfield and Dan Rather, probably his best-known patsies.

(26,291 posts)to foolishly jump on the band wagon of bashing the names on the list since names and emails are not hard to get but I am not sure if this post should be here in LBN.

(26,291 posts)realize that these days names and emails mean jack shit.
Now if it had been actual correspondence with the varies politicians actively communicating with KKK members and voicing their support this would probably be an entirely different story.

(135,425 posts)In the old days, if people wanted to "get" someone, they'd sign them up to receive something "embarrassing" in the mail, like a dirty magazine or a sex toy.
Putting someone on an email mailing list of a dispicable organization is the updated version of this.

(135,425 posts)They rile up all the kewl kidz who think they are fighting the power, who hack on their own just to be little shits, they suck them in, and once they get their names and addresses, the FBI sets up a sting operation, gets them all involved in it, and then swoops in and busts them.
Then they sort through them, separate the talented from the lame, and the good ones are flipped and end up working for the Bureau or some other agency.

They looked at who was most active KKK Twitter and went from there.
