Colorado students protest proposed changes to AP history courses [KCNC-TV]

The Koch brothers are getting involved in a local school board election in Colorado — where voters are considering whether to oust conservatives who replaced Advanced Placement history books with patriotic propaganda.

Thousands of students walked out last year to protest changes to the history curriculum — which school board members say shifted the focus toward patriotism and away from “civil disorder” and “social strife” — setting the stage for the Nov. 3 recall election, reported the New York Times.

Americans for Prosperity, the pro-business activist group funded by billionaires Charles and David Koch, is paying for commercials and fliers backing the school board’s conservative majority — while angry parents, teachers and labor unions are calling for the three board members’ removal.

Recall backers have raised more than $250,000, including about $15,000 from the local teachers’ union, while conservative and libertarian groups have already spent about $500,000 on TV ads alone and at least $100,000 more on mailer ads promoting the conservative members’ agenda.....................

old enough for old age to remove them from our world? In some cases, like these, expanding life expectancy doesn't seem to be working in our favor.

as their body parts fail, replacement organs will be manufactured or harvested from "willing donors" until such time as they are completely cyberized and immortal.

I forgot about that part. Brings to mind a radio drama from back in the early 1990s that I heard once. Kind of creeped me out. It was about a futuristic time where the government figures were in a state of suspended animation, all wired up and sequestered somewhere secret, who communicated via telepathy and were kept alive by replacement parts harvested from those unfortunate enough to be caught up in the criminal justice system and the public face of these figures were played by actors and broadcast almost continuously to keep everyone in line. There were emergency announcements about someone falling down and causing a chain reaction where entire city sectors were affected by thousands of people falling down with them as dominoes would. Wish I could remember the title of that play, I think it was written by a German play-write.

A Denver Post article describes that perhaps $1 MILLION came from the Kochs! This school board has brought a crazy soap opera to the Jeffco school district. In one instance the three conservative board members illegally met behind closed doors to hire an attorney. The previous school superintendent quit because she was not respected by this new conservative school board. The Denver Post says this will be one of the most watched elections in the country on Tuesday. Sadly, this recall may not succeed because Jefferson County is red. But there have been voter backlashes against conservatives in Jeffco before such as when the conservatives built an expensive county building nick named the "Taj mahal." The Denver Post says there have been death threats on both sides. Oh, and don't forget that Coors is in Jefferson County.

These three school board members are following the example set by another school district (Dougco) in Colorado. In fact these board members hired the superintendent from that district. The Walton family has been greatly involved in Dougco and they've been fighting in the courts over school vouchers--you know, where taxpayers are forced to pay for religious schools. It's all part of the national conspiracy to destroy the teacher's union.

I'm in Denver but right next to Lakewood. It's a moderately conservative area. So that's hopeful.
