Camden gun trafficker gets 15 years
Source: Philadelphia Inquirer
A Camden gun trafficker was sentenced today to 15 years in prison for his role in a conspiracy to sell 22 guns without a license.
Joseph Weezy Rutling, 24, and his brother Marcus Fresh Rutling, 33, bought firearms from pawn shops and gun stores in South Carolina and transported them to New Jersey on Amtrak trains, according to federal prosecutors. For more than a year, the Rutling brothers carried pistols, shotguns and assault rifles north to Camden and sold many of them to an ATF informer.
Joseph Rutling pleaded guilty in March to conspiring to deal firearms without a license and possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon. In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Judge Renee Bumb sentenced Joseph Rutling to three years of supervised release. Marcus Rutling previously pleaded guilty to his role in the conspiracy and was sentenced to 14 years in prison on Oct. 8, according a spokesman for the U.S. Attorneys office.

(5,902 posts)Whatever possessed him to get involved in something as harebrained as buying guns from Philippine separatists, I wonder.
Greed? Was he put up to it by persons unknown? We'll probably never know.
