Dennis Hastert pleads guilty to federal charge

Source: Chicago Tribune

Former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert pleaded guilty Wednesday to evading currency-reporting requirements, but no further details came out about the underlying wrongdoing that led him to withdraw nearly $1 million in cash from four banks over 2 ½ years.

Hastert entered his plea during a hearing before a judge in Chicago federal court. The judge set sentencing for Feb. 29. Hastert faces probation or up to 6 months in prison. Neither side anticipates calling witnesses for the sentencing.

As prosecutors recited the details of Hastert’s wrongdoing, he kept his eyes downward. The judge asked Hastert to say in his words what he did wrong.

"I didn’t want them to know how I intended to spend the money," Hastert said of bank officials. "… I withdrew the money in less than $10,000 increments."

Karma has come back to bite this guy right in the butt. It seems ironic after he orchestrated pointless partisan investigative hearings regarding Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky only to now find out he has been covering up his abuse of young high school kids which is 100 times more despicable than any Clinton scandal. Poetic justice and a little hard time in prison seems appropriate for good ole Denny.

mention him as being remembered from the Clinton presidency era or something to tie him to the name Clinton, or bring up the Clinton sex scandal . Who knows but his actions will not be word associated with the GOP. Enough people are just grazing news or not really listening enough for all or any of these deceptive means to work on them unfortunately

It identified him as "the Illinois republican.

So, it seems they got it right this time.

But who knows what they put on their TV broadcast. Probably Hastert (D). LOL
