Canceled Sacramento wedding leads to meal for homeless

Source: KCRA

By Tom Miller

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KCRA) —After a groom-to-be called off a Sacramento wedding, the bride-to-be's family decided to turn the extravagant event into a feast for those less fortunate.

It was a phone call too shocking, too sudden for Kari Duane to believe. On the other end of the line, her 27-year-old daughter Quinn told her the wedding wasn’t going to happen.

Her fiancé had called it off.

Deposits for the $35,000 wedding were already paid and more bills were coming due.

it's all her fault. When will I learn to not read the comments? What do people not understand about nonrefundable?

A certain amount of pain, expense and misery now, handled with grace and compassion, will be part of her life in the future.

Had the groom not realized he wasn't up for this, there might have been years of misery, expense and pain down the road.

Had they let anger, resentment, and rage get the better of them, what would be part of their lives forever would be exactly that.

admiringly,
Bright

especially since I live in Sacramento. What a beautiful gesture. Heroes and Sacramento are becoming the new thing. This couple should have a parade too.

should reimburse the family for their own public relations...but that would entail believing that corporate America cares about the less fortunate...

They can gain a lot of good will and new business if they make some sort of deal with the family. Maybe they can't give it all back. They might lose too much money. But they could work out something.
