Israeli Soldiers Kill 6 Palestinians in Gaza as West Bank Unrest Grows

JERUSALEM Israeli soldiers killed six young Palestinians on Friday in the Gaza Strip, including a 15-year-old boy, as they opened fire to quell crowds that hurled rocks and rolled burning tires close to the fence separating Gaza from Israel, Israeli military and Gaza health officials said.
The deadly clash came as the roiling violence and unrest of the past week continued across Israel and the occupied West Bank; there were four more stabbing attacks, including the first by a Jewish Israeli against Arabs, and unruly demonstrations that raged into the night.
The deteriorating landscape presented intense political challenges for both Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel and President Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority. Neither is ready to make a dramatic diplomatic move that could ease the conflict, yet the spiraling situation tests their ability to maintain control of restive constituencies.

(45,850 posts)In the northern West Bank village of Burin masked settlers were filmed rolling boulders and burning tires down a hill toward Palestinians.
Groups of settlers, at times accompanied by the Israeli army, threw stones at and attacked Palestinian residents, who threw stones back at them. The settlers also set fire to a number of Palestinian-owned agricultural fields.
The soldiers did nothing to stop the settler attacks, instead choosing to shoot tear gas, rubber bullets and reportedly live ammunition against the Palestinians defending their property.

(5,902 posts)our State Department -and media- would refer to the bullying country as a rogue state, slap sanctions on it (especially military sanctions), and before long, spend billions to arm the rebels no matter what they may or may not have done in the past.
But instead, we're expected to parrot "staunch ally, staunch ally" without anyone asking why that is exactly, or what if anything we're getting in return.
Orwell would be proud.

47 settler attacks against Palestinians so far this month alone. I seriously question who is terrorizing who.
As a side note to provide a bit more balance here is RT article providing more relevant detail.
Pretty amazing Palestinians being able to throw stones 150 feet at the IDF. No wonder the poor precious darlings felt threatened.

(1,061 posts)forfeit all their land and perpetually give in to everything the illiegal settlers want, this wouldn't be necessary.
Those poor settlers. They were forced to kill, again.

(57,936 posts)own and a country called Israel.
As it is, without agree boundaries, anything can happen.
Countries need set boundaries. That way you know who is violating those boundaries.
As long as Palestinians claim the whole shebang, they can't really criticize Israel for doing the same.
The countries need to agree on boundaries.
