Registered nurses vote on labor pact at HCA-affiliated Research, Menorah hospitals

Source: Kansas City Star

BY MARK DAVIS

Registered nurses at HCA-affiliated Research Medical Center in Kansas City have ratified a new labor agreement that includes pay raises and changes in working conditions.

Voting continued Monday at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, which is among 17 hospitals covered by the tentative agreement negotiated by the National Nurses Organizing Committee of National Nurses United. Other HCA-affiliated hospitals in the Kansas City area are not represented by the union.

“We came from across the country, from many different hospitals and different units and we united to support a shared vision for quality patient care and these agreements reflect that,” Cheryl Rodarmel, a registered nurse in Research’s rehabilitation unit, said in an announcement of the voting.

Registered nurses covered by the pact will receive pay raises of up to 15 percent based on location. The raises will be spread over the three-year agreement.

We really are the gears that keep healthcare running and along with techs and aides are completely under appreciated.
