‘Horror show’ has cop union boycotting Obama

Source: Boston Herald

By: Jack Encarnacao

Jerry Flynn, a Lowell cop on leave while serving as executive director of the New England Police Benevolent Association, said his organization’s executive board has chosen to boycott President Obama’s Labor Day breakfast address in Boston today to make a statement about violence against police:

“Our members are enraged at his lack of support of law enforcement. It’s clear that he has an agenda, and unfortunately the police are not part of his agenda.

Let’s face it, (there have been) eight people killed in a nine-day period, eight police officers, and his silence up until recently has been deafening. And the real sad part of this — and when I went to the White House in the first term with (Vice President) Joe Biden — he said to me that he would be the voice of law enforcement. Well, as much as I love and adore Joe, his voice has been silent as well. So it’s not an Obama problem, it’s an administration problem.

This is a horror show, this is an epidemic of lawless people trying to kill police officers for no apparent reasons. Case in point is the lieutenant who was pumping gas in Houston. Over 7,000 people were at that church, and where was he (Obama)? Why wasn’t he there instead of a unity breakfast?”

POLICE PROBLEM: A local police union is boycotting today’s visit by President Obama over what they believe is his lack of support for law enforcement.

By the news, you would think one. It seems that they don't believe the administration is doing a thing and then he says that the president spoke about it. You can't have both thoughts when facts show otherwise. The administration is working on it. The expectations on this president are unprecedented.

Right. The POTUS - any one, not just this one - should attend the funeral/memorial of slain law enforcement officers, each and every time one is killed. And equivalently of course, attend the funeral/memorial of each slain civilian (those slain by law enforcement officers.) In today's climate, the POTUS would have time for nothing else.

Business as usual no longer applies.

The police union has become a JOKE. Time and time again we see you guys step in front of the camera and sound like the Iraqi Information Minister. There have been split screens of a cop murdering someone on one side and a Union spokesman on the other saying we shouldn't believe our lying eyes.

..there have been more than eight people killed in the last few days. Cops are not the only people that count, but to him only cops killed count. Recently near where I live a cop was killed and the world stopped. They shut down towns and told residents to stay inside while hundreds of cops and the FBI cordoned off a two mile perimeter and searched for the killers.

But a few days later in southern Illinois a young man was killed over a spilled beer and there was no perimeter set up, no mob of cops looking for the suspects and statements from the local inept police of 'we are reviewing the surveillance tapes' etc with no video released of description of killer or car released. Just no big deal he was just some poor non entity that was killed.

When a cop is killed they should get EXACTLY the same type of concern or effort as when anyone else is killed. COPS ARE NOT SPECIAL super people. The mothers, brother sisters and spouses and children cry the same.

Cops are not hero's by default. They have to earn it.

A p.o. was standing near an apt. building in Manhattan when someone dropped a can of paint on his head from the roof and killed him. Of course they should not have done that. I don't recall if they found the perp. What I do recall is how they immediately pulled out all the stops - street closures (this during the rush hour), building to building, apartment to apartment searches, helicopters.... and I thought: they wouldn't do this for me.

police deaths had dropped under Obama from the levels of past Presidents.

He's fallen prey to the sensationalism of fewer deaths being publicized far more, making them look like 'an epidemic'.

cop in the country, cops (sniffle) get their wittle feewings hurt (tear drop). Den dey tro a big ol' (sob) temper tantrum and tell evewyone dey ain't happy. (wwwaaahhhh!)

Then they bully, harass, kill and torture Americans without fear of justice and have the chutzpah to wonder why no one respects them. Especially if you are young and/or a minority.

I tend to view a majority of cops as authoritarian, right wing, anti-civilian, anti-democratic (small 'd').
Sorry but that's my personal opinion.
So, if some boycott Obama, I'm not surprised.

I suspect the same ones would flock to a Trump rally.

The real threat to the American people is the Blue Gang.

Eight cops killed in the last nine days? First I heard about it. But, if it's true, I wouldn't say it's for no reason.

I haven't heard any speeches where the POTUS encourages violence against cops. I've heard a whole lot of speeches from him about how we need gun control and I assume it's primarily guns killing police officers.

Under Obama's watch, police departments have received hundreds of millions in military hardware surplus from the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. I guess that's not enough since they're right-wing assholes.
