you know nothing about this officer...what his record is. He was a married father of four sons and loved his job, his wife and his sons. He was involved with several youth groups.

He was due to retire last month and was asked to stay on one more month because the chief stepped down. This may be a very good man who was just trying to do his job.

I am as enraged by all the POC targeted by the police, and it needs to stop. But killing police is not the answer. An eye for an eye does not ever bring about peace. It just brings more fear, anger and hatred, and then more people die.

Gliniewicz, who was known as Joe or Joey in high school, “loved his job, loved his kids, loved his wife … He was just a delight to be around. … Not a bad bone in his body,” Poulos told the Tribune.

He Radioed That He Was Pursuing 3 Suspects Before He Was Shot.

He said he was in a foot pursuit, but the department then lost radio contact with him. Backup was sent to the area.

After police lost radio contact with Gliniewicz, they began searching for him. He was found in a marshy area suffering from a gunshot wound. He had been stripped of his gun and other gear, the Chicago Tribune reports.

He was chasing suspects...doing his job to protect his community, and he died for it. Don't try to make this about "equal justice".

Rip Lieutenant Charles Glinewicz.

However, in some very small mitigation, there have been other active threads about the murder on DU where the sentiment is mostly horrified about the events without any equivocation.

Let's assume for the moment that it is true that cops are on hair-triggers and unnecessarily killing black people (a debatable stereotype of cops)

Now, the response to the cops having hair triggers is for certain blacks to go hunting random cops and shoot them.

Methinks certain blacks hunting cops would cause cops to be even more on hair-trigger around blacks exacerbating the shooting of blacks, thereby making the situation far worse.

Ergo, it is counterproductive.

Unless the agenda is really to sow dissent, war, and racial violence against blacks, in which case the strategy seems to be rather solid.

Nobody can conclude that this is an incident of cop hatred yet, or that this is linked to anything other than the lethal mix of flight reflex, having a gun, and piss-poor judgement.

Hopefully, we'll know more soon.
