Bill Nelson To Run For Reelection
Source: Crowley Political Report
Florida Senator Bill Nelson announced today he will run for a fourth term. The Democrat made the announcement during a speech at the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches. Nelson chose not to comment about the likely candidacy of Republican Gov Rick Scott. Nelson will be 73 next month and recently recovered from prostate cancer. Nelson, who was joined at the event by wife Grace, also talked about his support for the deal with Iran, the threat of a congressional budget showdown, and speculated that Vice President Joe Biden will not against Hillary Clinton. After the speech, Nelson was on the phone for a lengthy conversation with former President Bill Clinton. Grace Nelson also spoke with the former president.

(755 posts)who is probably running for Nelson's Senate seat after he leaves office in 2018. I rate this seat as Tossup. Rick Scott is formidable, and Nelson and the DNC will have to fight hard to get Scott out of politics.

"Aw shit, I thought the op was about Bill Nelson of Be Bop Deluxe,"
and there you were.
I think Shine from Live in the Air Age is the best 9 minutes in music.
Peace be with you and you have excellent taste in music by the way!

I don't own any of their stuff from the early days in any format I can listen to again (albums, but no CD or flac-files.) Bill is re-releasing some of his Nelsonica productions through Bandcamp downloads, so that's nice. I'd like to see him do the same with the older stuff, if he has purchased the rights back from the labels.
You have a great day! It's always nice seeing other fans around here

(34,136 posts)Consider - he is probably the best chance of keeping that Senate seat in Democratic hands. It appears that pRick Scott will be the Republican running for that seat and he's already purchased two terms as governor despite his criminal past and the fact that so many Floridians hate him.
While Nelson is a very conservative Democrat he is reliably a Democrat and has voted with the Democratic block in the Senate every time it has really counted. But he has been able to get elected and re-elected to various offices in a part of Florida that tends to be very conservative and that has been voting Republican if not full body Tea Party.
Sure, I would love to see a more liberal politician in that seat, but I don't expect to see that in my lifetime. Meanwhile I will vote for Bill Nelson - but my campaign energy and contributions will go only to liberal or progressive candidates.

(12,388 posts)I would not vote for anyone indebted to or related to a lobbyist. Not to mention... he is the king of form letters to his constituents.
On the other hand... I have no choice.
Vote for me. I'm poor and honest. 😄
