Univision Prez Slams Trump: Treatment Of Jorge Ramos 'Beneath Contempt'

Source: TPM

Donald Trump and Univision were no fans of one another before Trump kicked renown Univision host Jorge Ramos out of a press conference Tuesday. But in a statement released Wednesday evening, Univision president Randy Falco made clear his disapproval of Ramos' ejection from the press event.

-snip-

Read the full statement:

The recent treatment that Jorge Ramos received at Mr. Trump's press conference in Iowa is beneath contempt. As a Presidential candidate, Mr. Trump is going to get tough questions from the press and has to answer them. Jorge Ramos is one the most professional, dedicated and respected journalists I have seen or worked with in my 40 years in media. He always asks hard questions of candidates and elected officials, regardless of party or issue. Mr. Trump demonstrated complete disregard for him and for the countless Hispanics whom Jorge seeks to represent through press questions that are at the heart of the First Amendment. I remain grateful for the first-rate journalistic work that Jorge and all of his news colleagues at Univision and Fusion do to bring all points of view to the 57 million Hispanics in this country.

5. The supporters of trump said the reporter was not called to ask a question

So I looked at the video again and nobody was called so the reporter decided to ask a question. I mean the press conference needed to get started so what's the big deal?

Before the CBS guy could finish his question, Ramos started talking.

3. The supporters of this bigot essentially buy into the "gotcha" philosophy espoused by Palin

They blame the "lame stream" media. They blame anyone of a different color than them. They blame the system. They blame Republicans willing to compromise on anything. They blame all of Islam.

Any question that seeks an answer to a question that makes them uncomfortable is a "gotcha" moment and they become irate. Their supporters love the anger and say "Hell yes, they're after Donald or Sarah." It's that damn mainstream gotcha press.

They don't want Donald to answer difficult questions. They want to be a majority of victims. Donald is a billionaire victim, and like Howard Beale in Network said, "He's mad as hell and not going to take it anymore." The person who should win the argument is the one who yells the loudest and doesn't let the other guy speak is their philosophy. It is not a run based on debate but one based on incitement.

I even read that in a Trump focus group by Frank Lutz 100% loved Trump's stand on veterans. Trump is another guy who found a bogus excuse not to serve in Vietnam. These are the same kind of people that cheered the swift boating of Kerry, and who love the Cheney's and Trumps and Limbaughs dedication to the veteran and the serving your country.

It's wacky...yes.. But then again...it's Republican.

Are you really going to play that card? Why? Do you support the Vietnam War? As a veteran, anyone who found a way to get out of the Vietnam War gets my congratulations.

And no, I am not a Trump supporter.

6. I served too. I don't appreciate chickenhawks who avoided the war playing the veteran card for votes

I've no objection to people who took a stand against the war. I do when people suddenly easily become hawks militarily who avoided any conflict and now are trying to score political points. Trying to sound tough on defense.

Yes, I know the war was horrible. I was there. You were too. I agree anyone who avoided it, fine. But don't start playing the veteran bullshit card and wanting to invade all over the world. Tired of these guys - Trump, Cheney, Limbaugh being interviewed as if they're some type of frigging expert on veterans affairs or military decisions. Bottom line they always get a pass, but I'll be damned if they give another guy a pass.

8. Ran across an interesting tidbit.....

Now that Univision's president is slamming Trump for his recent interaction with Jorge Ramos as 'beneath contempt'....

I ran across the following, and keeping it in context of Donald Trump's presidential run announcement on June 16, 2015:

Jorge Ramos announced on June 19, 2015:

As journalists the most important thing we have is our credibility and integrity. We maintain that, in part, through transparency with our audience, our colleagues and our critics. That is why I am disclosing that my daughter, Paola, has accepted a position working with Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

And from here:

As Trump called on a reporter, Ramos stood and began shouting questions. Trump asked him to sit down, but instead Ramos continued to interrupt the proceedings. After Ramos was briefly removed from the room, he returned, only to debate Trump for several minutes, instead of asking questions and waiting for answers.

As Real Clear Politics reports, “The two went head to head for five minutes over birthright citizenship, how Trump would build a wall, how he would deport illegal immigrants and more. Trump fought back against Ramos and attempted to get him to acknowledge crime committed by illegal immigrants.”

The revelation certainly casts Ramos’s stunt against Hillary’s chief Republican rival in a new light.

(bolding added)

The plot thickens.

Mr Ramos, being the professional he claims to be should have waited to be called upon. Mr Ramos was out of line. Lots of reporters are not called upon. They can complain later.

forgetting slights when it promotes their brands. Trump swore to sue Slim, Univisión AND the Mexican government a while back. Wonder how that worked out...
