Trump Aide: Mitt Romney Still Considering Another Presidential Run

Source: The Salt Lake Tribune Aug 24 2015 8:43 pm gmt

Colorful former Trump adviser Roger Stone thinks 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney is thinking about getting back in the presidential race. Stone tweeted his suspicion, and told CNN he had heard that Romney was considering a run from his sources.

The move could indicate Romney sees an opportunity to better confront and challenge front-runner Donald Trump. Some see current establishment standard bearer former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush as flailing. Trump has mocked Bush for being "just flat" on the campaign trail and Sunday called him a "low energy" candidate. Romney publicly considered a third run as recently as January, but decided against it, after he lost most of his valuable donor base to Bush, and the massive prospective Republican field proved too unpredictable.

Romney ran for president in 2012, and lost the nomination to Sen. John McCain in 2008. Romney supporters point to Ronald Reagan's three attempts at the White House — 1968, 1976, before his successful win in 1980, as evidence that Romney has a chance. The man who floated this rumor, Trump's former adviser Stone, has a history almost as colorful as that of his former boss. Stone was an aide to President Richard Nixon, and remains one of Rchard Nixon's staunchest defenders. He is known for his penchant for expensive but elaborate dress clothes, which are often a departure from the more understated nature of most political menswear.

He has been described as a "self-admitted hit man for the GOP" by the Daily Beast, is a popular presence on Twitter, and allegedly, has a tattoo of his former boss — Nixon— on his back.

big money is going to bush, Scott, and Rubio, and no way is Cruz going to be the front rinner. He doesn't have the money or connections.

Also, Romney is well aware that he isn't particularly popular among republicans

Isn't going to happen

Biden, Gore, Romney, betcha Dole is next. Bush Sr. is still constitutionally eligible. How about John McCain?

The media needs to know how to be bored and accept that their job is to report, not facilitate.

Hello folks
Donald here : )

I am quite sure they are all on to him , everybody knows Romney is nothing more than a white collar pick pocket.
Did you know that Romney actually borrowed some cash from a volunteer to pay for those cases of water he was seemingly loading up for the hurricane sandy disaster ? And did you know he never paid that volunteer one red cent back ?
That's his way, you know ?
It's how they do it with a smile that gets me. For them, that is a school of thought. It is something they just must do.
That is the base and those are the gop party loyalist.Predators.

Through the lunacy there is a crown point. If the republican party in panic mode puts everything they got on the table for all to see, all will see they got nothing. That's what I know and that's why I am in.
I am very rich and I can afford to stop their clocks. ! Romney ,Bloomberg and anything else that comes out from under those rocks. Newtey too !

And his promise to act on China seems moderate now, too:

In 2012, eventual losing Republican party presidential candidate Mitt Romney vowed to declare China a currency manipulator on his first day in office.

Maybe Mitt is on to something here.

He wanted so bad to run again, but opted out at the last minute, thinking Jeb! was unstoppable and had it locked up.

The man's ego and delusions (after all, he was prophecized to be our White Horse Mormon king or some such shit), combined with his wife's mad desire to be an aristocrat, may very well drive him back into the fray now that Bush has fizzled.

A guy doesn't spend his entire adult life, well into his senior years, preparing to be president, only to give it up so easily.

Years ago I said he'd be THE WORST if he were convicted for tax evasion in 2014, but Romney either got away with it or kept it out of the papers and therefore he did not affect the course of the mid-term elections.

But you know he was still a pretty bad candidate when an even worse one shakes the Romney voodoo doll at voters: "like me or Romney will come back, woooooooooo."

How can it possibly get anymore disgusting than that ? !
Christie getting up on the scales before those little town hall meets across the country as the nation watches Christie become Jared ! Sure it would be like Jim Carrey's movie The Truman Show ,starring Chris Christie.

Than on to become Romney's choice for a vice ! The unfortunate losers.
