Trump says tax code is letting hedge funds 'get away with murder'

Source: Reuters

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump blasted hedge fund managers on Sunday as mere "paper pushers" who he said were "getting away with murder" by not paying their fair share of taxes.

In a telephone interview on CBS's "Face the Nation," Trump vowed to reform the tax laws if elected and said the current system was harming middle class Americans who currently faced higher tax rates than traders on Wall Street.

"The hedge fund guys didn't build this country. These are guys that shift paper around and they get lucky," Trump said.

"They are energetic. They are very smart. But a lot of them - they are paper-pushers. They make a fortune. They pay no tax. It's ridiculous, ok?"

I support Trump's "Make America Great Again" plan.

The key element of the plan is to wreck the Republican Party.

While I don't care for the guy and would never vote for him, what he's doing to the Republican Party is downright genius, and I think intentional.

good middle class system. They see themselves as hurting when the lower and middle class people have no money to spend. Trump probably saw that as why his casinos in NJ did poorly. They were built for the middle class in NY and NJ. The middle class started dying off.

OK, this is what Trump says now-a-days.

And let's say he gets the nomination and is elected and inaugurated.

What makes anyone think he's going to follow through on anything he said in the past, esp. financial and economic interests?

It seems to me Trump will say anything to get elected without a sense of shame and/or irony.

Trump will make a statement and say that he said it 10 years ago and he was right, as if he's a genius. The reality is more like, Trump says a lot of stuff. Eventually, something he says turns out to be correct. But he's probably said 100 other things around the same time, that weren't true or didn't come to fruition. So Trump is the proverbial broken clock; right twice a day and wrong the other 1438 minutes of the day.

Next he will be claiming that Big Oil is also raping the American people by stealing natural resources, polluting the environment, and not paying their fair share calling for an end to all tax subsidies for oil companies.... What he is doing or undoing is the showing the conservative electorate that the wall street and big oil, et.al, typical GOP politician is simply not in it for the American people, personally I love it he is doing more to expose the lies on the right than anyone on the left could possibly hope to..... Will he ever win a General Election? I doubt it, he speaks in complete run on sentences and never finishes a thought. However, this is fun to watch...

A very substantial portion of Donald Trump's income comes from investments, mostly in real estate. It is very doubtful Donald Trump is running for president because he thinks his own taxes are too low.

And seriously guys...how many hotels and casinos does Donald Trump think this country needs?
