Britain, Iran to reopen embassies on Sunday

Source: Yahoo! News / AFP

London (AFP) - Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said he would reopen the UK's embassy in Iran on Sunday, four years on since it was trashed by a mob, as Tehran's ties warm with the West.

Iran's embassy in London will reopen at the same time, Hammond said, initially at charge d'affaires level, with a view to installing the two countries' respective ambassadors in the coming months.

European officials have been quick to visit Tehran since July 14, when Iran struck a deal with Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States, ending a 13-year stand-off over its nuclear programme.

The accord will see the lifting of economic sanctions imposed on Iran and has sparked a flurry of interest from countries seeking to re-connect with the oil-rich Islamic republic.

That is another fact of many being withheld on purpose by the homogenous American corporate media.

...when in reality the world is united in favor of the deal with the exception of Israel.

The media only pays attention to what the GOPers and Israeli warmongers are saying and then they feed their bullshit to the American people.

4. It's very strange watching this from a US perspective.

It's as if we're the the only ones involved in this deal to those in this country. Which is totally false. I'd hazard a guess many, if not most of the citizens living in the US don't know that fact. That's just how out of sync with reality our media has become. They're not informing the population of reality, just whatever partisan facts they're supposed to be doling out to to the masses.

I've never witnessed anything like this in my lifetime. When I mention to people it's a joint agreement involving not just the US and Iran, but also the UK, France, China, Russia and Germany people look at me like I'm insane. Twice I've had people tell me I'm mistaken to my face. One person went so far just over two weeks ago as to tell me not to make things up!

We're really that ignorant as a nation. I think the overall blame falls on our media, but the secondary blame is on anyone not curious enough to do a tiny bit of research. If you want to have an opinion, take responsibility and learn about what you're speaking about. If you don't and you end up being called out by someone for being ignorant, there's no one to blame but your own self!

6. Incredible isn't it how the mass media has hidden the fact the World and nuclear experts are unanimous on the deal?

America is the most controlled media market in the world not ruled by a dictator.

What good is free speech if you can not get the folks controlling the megaphone to listen?
