Family Values Activist Josh Duggar Had a Paid Ashley Madison Account
Source: Gawker
In 2013, conservative reality TV star Josh Duggarof TLCs 19 Kids and Counting famewas named the executive director of the Family Research Council, a conservative lobbying group in D.C. which seeks to champion marriage and family as the foundation of civilization, the seedbed of virtue, and the wellspring of society. During that time, he also maintained a paid account on Ashley Madison, a web site created for the express purpose of cheating on your spouse.
In May 2015, Duggar was forced to resign after In Touch Weekly reported that he had molested five young girls (four of whom were his own sisters) beginning in 2002. When the accusations became public, the family went into crisis mode, insisting that Josh had reformed and that the media covering the claims was intent on exploiting women.
Josh himself took to his familys Facebook page to absolve himself of his past indiscretions and assure the world he was back on a righteous path:
Twelve years ago, as a young teenager I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends. I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life. I sought forgiveness from those I had wronged and asked Christ to forgive me and come into my life. I would do anything to go back to those teen years and take different actions. In my life today, I am so very thankful for Gods grace, mercy and redemption.

And yes, the headlines read "Duggar inspired" but in fact some of the girls are participating.
ETA As you would know if you read your own link:
"Heres what we do know: On August 30, TLC will air a special called Breaking the Silence focusing on the horrors of child sex abuse. It will feature two of the Duggar sisters who were among Joshs victims."

If not for him they'd still be on TV and raking in millions, and this Ashley Madison revelation should dash any hope they had for getting back on TV with another show.

They've all got a certain amount of dirt on somebody else, and the dirtiest player climbs to the top of the great stinking heap.
That's how George H.W. Bush became President. His leveraged his stinking family connections and personal dirt into a CIA directorship, after which he had the dirt on everyone.
Bill Clinton of Arkansas was from a place where both politics and religion worked that way, and is smarter than any Bush, and thus displaced the older Bush from his throne.

(14,733 posts)Sorry, my private life is pretty boring.
I was a paid member of a female bodybuilder's website a couple of decades ago, and likewise created an AFF account around the same time I think (and I wasn't married back then), but never got around to using it. That's about all of the trail of sordidness I left out there. Don't remember signing up for anything else skeevy.
No nude pics of me on the net, no pics of me even drunk.
Oh, and come to think of it, my stolen data WAS 'plastered online' - a couple of years after I'd been on that bodybuilder's site, I found my account name, name and password in a hacked list on a swedish website after doing a google search on myself. All it meant was that I quickly went around changing my passwords elsewhere, and never used that password or userid anywhere else again.

(2,529 posts)His private life was stolen, but he makes a living trying to destroy the rights of people using his assumed moral high ground to pass judgment on them. I have no qualms seeing him get slimed. He's not some innocent consumer who just got his bank account wiped out. He promotes a regressive cult that demeans women while claiming to respect and revere them. People should expect privacy, but when one has the power to influence public policy and then behaves in a manner contrary to the moral authority he wields that allows him that influence, he should be held to more scrutiny.
Travis_0004
(5,417 posts)First off, I would think he would use a fake name when signing up.
And if his picture was up there, I'm sure somebody would have noticed, and possibly leaked in years ago. I could do a database search, and I would be willing to bet the name Barack Obama comes up, but I wouldn't blame Obama, I would think the name was fake.
This could be true, maybe its not, but I'll wait for a bit more evidence.

Violate the teachings of Christ? No problem. You aren't actually expected to follow all of them. No one does.

(2,331 posts)I was disappointed at only 23 responses. (Don't know if I missed an earlier thread) Most were not surprised, one said rude things about his wife if she doesn't leave him (can't totally disagree though I don't wish herpes on her), there were really few if any supporters of Josh, though one person was very skeptical about the source and posted a snopes article. Said article was totally inconclusive however at least so far
