Brad Ashford says Iran nuclear deal 'not good enough right now'
Source: Omaha World Herald
By Joseph Morton
WASHINGTON Rep. Brad Ashford, D-Neb., says a weeklong trip to Israel has only reinforced his significant concerns about President Barack Obamas nuclear agreement with Iran.
Ive made up my mind that the deals not good enough right now, Ashford said Wednesday.
The Omaha congressman stopped short of saying he will absolutely vote against the agreement when Congress returns from recess next month.
Ashford noted that between his duties in Washington and the visit to Israel, this week is the first time he has been back in Omaha since the details of the agreement were released.

(3,967 posts)if I had a dime for every time a DUer wrote "Fuck Israel" - it is definitely a popular view. This appears about 100 times more than Fuck all other countries combined. Go DU!!!
I just imagine the people who write this sitting at their keyboard, just fuming that someone is not going to vote in favor of the Iran deal, getting madder and madder, until they can no longer take it. Their sober, reasoned political discourse falls way to Fuck Israel. And finally they feel better.

(4,713 posts)Maybe I'm too young (37), but I honestly don't get our love affair with Israel & yes I say fuck them BC they keep mooching from us & starting shit. Cut them off & let their asses deal with it on their own. Why are they our problem?

(3,967 posts)Red in the face. "F-f-f-fuck Israel!!! Aaaaaah."
I mean you wrote this in response to an article about a Nebraska Senator who is not yet going to support a deal between the US and other countries and Iran, Israel not included anywhere. Israel not mentioned in the article. I get it, Israel as a country takes up a great deal of your brain space, you think about Israel a lot. They are not really that big a factor.
As for your other sentiments, I don't suppose they are your problem at all. But truthfully, an all out war in the middle east would be pretty ugly from a humanitarian perspective. Even if it was just nukes against Israel it would be. But it's just a game, right? Go team.

(4,713 posts)Fuck is not a word of rage & if Israel wants to constantly start shit with their neighbors that shouldn't concern us in the least. If they want to act up we can throw some sanctions on them too, Israel has shown repeatedly that they can't play nice with others. Maybe if they had to put on some grown up pants for a while instead of running behind the US every time they started shit with their neighbors maybe they'd stop being such douchebags.

(3,967 posts)i know how alert trolling works around here, and I know who gets away with it and who gets screwed. My non-insulting post is deleted. go ahead and say Fuck Israel to your heart's content. Gotta love DU.

(12,530 posts)And I didn't appreiate it at all. The self-delete was thoughtful. The attempted mitigation and claims of innocence and accusations of leveling threats: definitely not appreciated.

(3,967 posts)that I do not believe is true about Democats over all, and it has to do with how DUers such as yourself feel about Israel and its supporters.

(59,504 posts)Our Congress against our Democratic President. I am Jewish and appalled.
Not to mention, I am fed up with people who question Obama arguing his case that this really is the only alternative to war. The latest is Bloomberg who took him to task for his language. Yet, NOT ONE of these people took Netanyahu to task for his over the top rhetoric. Not to mention it is Netanyahu lobbing our legislators, not Obama lobbing the Knesset.
Not to mention, in the official Jewish community, there has long been many saying we are strongest speaking with one voice ---- but that has for at least 2 decades been the Likud voice no matter who is in power. By the way, a young Netanyahu lobbied the US against the official Israeli position when Likud was out of power.
In addition, I ad sick of articles that essentially blame Obama for the bad relationship. Apparently, attacks on Obama and Kerry - often based in lies - from people in Netsnyahu's disgusting RW fringe of his coalition are just dandy, but anyone - even anonymous people on DU are wrong to question Schumer or Netanyahu.
Outside DU, it is ridiculous that many previously neutral Jewish organizations are lobbying for Likud on this. Then, they have the audacity to be both condescending and angry when I refuse to sign up to go to their functions. My position was not confrontational - just if they opt to take a political position I disagree with to my core, I have the right to politely take a political position to reject their functions. When their response is that it is wrong to let this tear up the community -- my response is don't lobby on issues where half the community disagrees. They are responsible for the controversy.
