Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura suggested Tuesday that he’d be glad to be Donald Trump’s running mate.

“Do you think Donald would ever think of asking me?” Ventura said during an interview on his “Off the Grid” show with former Trump adviser Roger Stone .

Ventura said he’d support Trump for the GOP presidential nomination“I shocked my staff today,” Ventura said. “I came in and said, ‘You know what, as far as the Republicans are concerned, I hope Trump wins.’”

“I’m not a Republican – I’m not a Democrat either – so ultimately I’d like somebody else overall,” the former WWE wrestler added.

I tend to be a bit wary of people who take "being an independent" to quasi-partisan extremes. It usually strikes me as being less about one's principles than about intellectual cravenness. Whenever there is a contentious issue, just pull the "both sides are wrong/dumb" card to try to make yourself look good.

I don't think Jesse (my former governor) is quite as nuts or as piggish as Trump, but what they have in common are gigantic egos and thin skins. This would truly be a match made in Hell, but I don't think it will happen because Trump can't tolerate someone who might draw attention away from him - and neither can Jesse.

29. I like Jesse Ventura. I wanted him to run for president in 2016, but I can't see him on the Trump

ticket. Both of them have egos, and the No. 1 rule in the vice presidential sweepstakes is "Do No Harm". However, Trump is a feisty personality, and I don't see a Trump/Ventura ticket would have good chance. But, we will see.
