...is going to result in a police standoff.

We'll have to hire more police and who needs that?

yeeeesh....

Shoddy half-ass journalism, and that broke another irony meter, considering the event at the hotel...

bewilderedly,

I've "holed up" in hotel rooms every time my ship pulled in to port. Stayed drunk and ordered room service the whole time. It was great.

Glad the cops never showed up.

I always figure if you get bored, just ring up 911 and tell them "I'm in my place, and I'm not coming out!"

It's apparently a threatened suicide situation. From the Star-Tribune, in a side bar (not a news story, just a scroll):

We're following the SWAT team situation at the Minneapolis Hilton closely. Minneapolis police say there is a suspected suicidal man in a room at the hotel, but they have not said whether he is armed. They have evacuated nearby rooms as a precaution but say there is no danger to public safety, and patrons of the hotel are otherwise free to come and go.

This is not major news.
