University distances itself from Idaho hunter amid backlash

Source: AP

By KIMBERLEE KRUESI

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Officials with Idaho State University are distancing themselves from one of their accountants who is being criticized for posting photos of large animals she has killed while legally hunting in South Africa.

"This is not an Idaho State University matter. While the individual in question is an employee, her personal choices are not representative of the University," university officials told The Associated Press in a prepared statement on Tuesday.

University spokesman Andrew Taylor declined to comment further, but he confirmed that Sabrina Corgatelli had been employed at the university since January.

Corgatelli has posted photos of trophy kills —which include a giraffe, an impala, a wildebeest and a warthog. Her postings have drawn thousands of commenters expressing outrage and threats on her Facebook and Instagram pages.

And unless it can be shown that laws were broken, a public university has no business being involved.

They act like killing things for fun is THE most natural human behavior. They try to explain their bloodlust in interviews, etc., and seem astounded that their actions are not defended, much less being questioned.

They have NO idea that the majority of society condemns their actions for what they are. An aristocratic and frivolous past time.

You want to shoot something? Take up skeet.

It was all about trophy hunting. In the first-hand stories by the hunters, they would say they would get a thrill and a rush of adrenaline when they killed their prey especially if it was a large-racked buck.

want to impress me with your "courage"? Go toe to toe with a lion, tiger or bear UNARMED. If you can kick a grizzly's ass with your bare hands, you have bragging rights.

Or not "like" serial killers. They are serial killers -- only targeting victims that (so far) are deemed "allowable" by society.

There are a lot of contrary examples in nature: chimpanzees are hunting red colubus monkeys to extinction, leopard seals do eat penguins but they've been observed playing with them (details best omitted) without eating them.

And of course any kind of cat will happily torture any critter that runs away when they bat at it, often with no intention of eating it when the game grows tiresome.

(Haven't read the article yet.) Yes, she was joy-killing on her free time, but has brought A LOT of negative attention to her employer. Hmm, think I need to dig up my employer's social media policy, just as a refresher.

I won't shed any tears if she's let go. Seriously, killing an old giraffe then gloating about it? Total POS territory.

I don't know how many people will shun the the university because of her, but then again they don't need the negative publicity, and some students might want to avoid going there because of her, which means loss of revenue, which means they could have a reason to get rid of her.

... she claimed that it wasn't about killing, but the HUNT. Bullshit. If that was the case, she could track the animal, then take a picture. She also claimed that a giraffe is very dangerous. Not when it's a few hundred yards away, it isn't.

I hunted for most of my adult life, but for food; I never killed any animal just for the adrenaline rush of watching it die.

The woman is a sociopath. She deserves whatever fate befalls her.
