High school principals tell Scott Walker his funding cuts produce ‘haves and have-nots’

48 minutes ago • By Pat Schneider

Dane County high school principals in DeForest, Marshall, McFarland and Oregon are among 35 in southern Wisconsin who signed on to a letter to Gov. Scott Walker and the state Legislature lamenting the "reduced power of local school boards" and a "competitive business model" they say results in "haves and the have-nots" among school districts.

“We do not support recent budgets and the underfunding of public education,” read the letter signed by Machell Schwarz, principal of DeForest Area High School; Brian Sniff, principal of Marshall High School; James Hickey, retiring principal of McFarland High School, and Jim Pliner, principal of Oregon High School, along with 31 others..........

he guts and cuts the public education system------he then shifts the money to For-Profit so called charter schools ------------after he and his corruption in the legislature and the justice system blame the teachers in the slight of hand maneuvering .
They then have there way and they take those public dollars to have a CEO in charge of the little children making $500,000 a year with no accountability or being transparent with the expenses because he does not have it set up.
And then having scab teachers crying about there wages and lack of benefit's and work protection still blaming the unions or what's left of them in the state---because its sure not in the public sector-----------its against some scab passed law.

No buyer's remorse, please. Because of Wisconsin, this prick has a chance to be president. I say the same about any state that elects a Republican and then whines when they get Republican policies.

Do you really think this group of HS principals voted for Walker? Buyer's remorse might be setting in with some of the middle 5% that decides elections in low turnout years, but you're basically saying STFU to an entire state. This is a state, I might add, that has gone for the Democratic candidate in every presidential election since 1988 inclusive, and that we need to win in 2016.

If you think that Democrats in Wisconsin need to shut up because other people in the state elected Howdy Doody as Governor three times, then you're being a jerk. I'm glad you're feeling the Bern, by the way, but I'm pretty sure Senator Sanders would NOT tell an entire state to fuck off.

Wisconsin could have recalled the prick. . .and voted him out of office during his re-election.

I'm disgusted people didn't do what they screamed about. . .just like the NJ Democratic Party abandoning their candidate to support dipshit Christie.

You're saying approximately 50 % of a group of PUBLIC SCHOOL PRINCIPALS voted to elect Scott Walker, presumably because roughly 50% of the population voted for him??

Really? You think everyone in Wisconsin is a dipshit? This crap could happen anywhere. Mass. elected Scott Brown. Does that mean Massachusetts is full of dumbass redneck teabaggers? Minnesota elected Jesse Ventura and California elected Ahnold for fuck's sake. It can happen anywhere. The important thing now is to stop this clown before he fucks over the whole country. He would make Bush look like FDR and I sincerely mean that.

For shit's sake, think a little more than that. These principals are trying to get people to see what an utter FAIL Walker has been as a Governor, and you're ridiculing them.

Oh, and go Cubbies...

My youngest was a freshman at Madison last year. Made the trip up Route 12 a dozen times. My guess is that WI has the same problem as IL.

Everywhere I drove, nothing but pro-Walker signs. Just like we have Chicago, WI has Milwaukee, Madison, not much else. We're stuck with ex-Bain guy Rauner as governor, you have the Koch brothers shill.

I do feel bad for the principals, but it's probably high time they let their students parents know how their stupid votes impact their kids education. Those aren't all Milwaukee principals on the letter.

You're right, We have Milwaukee, Madison, and actually a couple of other pretty solid blue pockets, one of which I live in on the west side of the state. But yeah, you're going to see a LOT of "I Stand With Scott Walker" signs driving up 12. One of the worst douchebags in the State Legislature is from right along that route.

You're right, the public school folks need to be MUCH more vocal about what Walker is really doing to their kids, as do higher ups in the UW system.

BTW My mom is from DeKalb and I've had a half dozen or so cousins go through NIU, so my guess is that I've spent a fair bit of time in your neck of the woods, too.

I'll bet none of them are in the teachers union, so yes, I do believe
that approximately 50% of them did vote at one time or another
to keep Walker, and they're now complaining. It just annoys me that
people continue to complain about issues, that they should have known
what & how someone like Walker is going to implement those issues.
What did they expect.

What percentage do you think voted for Walker?

I don't want to see Walker infect the rest of the country with his B$ policies,
I'm with you on that.

school board members. The former, in my experience (I am in education) support their staff and know full well the effect Scott Walker's draconian bullshit will have on their schools. School board administrators are a different lot...they are elected, often as stealth candidates, and are much more frequently right wing hacks. THEY are often all about reducing property taxes, so, yes, many of THEM probably voted for Walker. Put it this way: I personally know five high school principals, and I would bet my life savings that NONE of them voted for SKW.

As for the Cubbies... I've always liked them, even though they are now in the same division as my Brewers. When I was a kid we were in the AL so I rooted for the Cubs as my NL team. The Brewers are currently starting a rebuild, similar to the Cubs a few years back, so for a couple years, until we are competitive again, I hope the Cubs win the division and go on to the Series.
